Raven Runs.

Raven has a new entry for the 22nd August. It's a small 7 runner field over 2000 metres.

Hopefully we won't have any problems at the stalls.

Yet again, she faces a very stiff task.

Has only run once and probably to a rating of 61

So as you can see, the first number below each horses name is its official rating.

The second number is the weight it is carrying.

The third number is the amount a horse has in hand of Raven.

E.g. Sweetheart has 13kg in hand, which means she should beat Raven by about 15 lengths

Scram has the same rating as Raven but is carrying 2kg more. He is the one we have most chance of beating.

I think we could beat Golden Blaze as well. I'd be more than happy if she finished 5th beaten no more than 12 lengths. That would be another step forward.

Once again, the variable to improvement is the extra 400 metres.

Will it bring even more improvement?

RAVEN RUNS! RAVEN RUNS!

Night Raven goes next Sunday 2nd August, and this is a very tough race.

Being honest, she has very little chance, so no pressure. If she could finish in the first 7, then I think that would be yet another step forward.

The race she won last time was weak, however, the three horses that finished behind her have all run well since, with the third horse Iliada coming out and winning.

Of course, the first battle with Raven is to get her in and out of the stalls. She is drawn 11 of 11 and as you see on the racecard where I made a green stroke, the start is right on a bend, so it is tough if she is slowly away.

The exciting part next week is that we can go with no expectations.

What we do not know is if the extra 400 metres (2 furlongs) will maybe bring some more improvement. It could well do, as she went through the line powerfully last time.

To put her task into perspective Zen Legacy is rated 70.5 while Raven is rated 56.5. It means Zen Legacy should be carrying 14kg more weight than Raven. He is only carrying 3kg more, as this is not a handicap.

If we equate that into lengths, Zen Legacy should beat her around 15 lengths.

Its the same for every other horse in the race. Raven is the lowest rated of the 11 runners.

As the saying goes, YOU GOTTA BE IN IT TO WIN IT.

The most important thing is both Raven and Karolina come back safe
