A great afternoon at the 25 de Abril celebrations yesterday in Santa Vitoria do Ameixial - friends and neighbours, food, wine and music - lots of sun too! 🇵🇹🍷🫂🤲

To celebrate the warmer weather, we took a 3-day trip to Serpa in Baixo Alentejo. The municipal campsite is great, very close to the town centre and not too busy at this time of year. We were able to wander the atmospheric streets in the evenings exploring the castle area, the aqueduct, the famous 1,000-year-old olive trees and the traditional windmill. Also managed to sample some great wines and cheeses! 🍷❤️🧀🇵🇹

Why do they call Serpa ‘Terra Forte’? Is it because the people are robust and strong? Or that they defended the town against invaders? Or maybe a bit of both?🏰⚔️💪😎

Saturday evening ride out to Serra de São Miguel, Sousel 🏍
After weeks of stripping down, repairs, cleaning, reassembling followed by adjustments and tweaking, it finally seems to be running sweet.

A few pics from the first Festival of Soups organised by the 736 Estremoz Scouts on Saturday 🔝😋👌

We had 28 delicious soups to try, all donated by eateries in and around town 🍲🥄🥣😃 Favourites were chestnut soup, sopa de tomate, lamb canja and, of course, cachola!

The setting was the cloisters of the town hall. A very successful event and one we will definitely look out for next year👏👍

Shout out to The Museu Berardo tile for organising two excellent recent events: the Valentine’s Day guided tour and tile painting in February, and today’s Cultour Wine showcasing fine by 13 producers from . It was a great way to sample some of the lesser-know and from the town…

We had so much fun yesterday joining the group from Extremofoliões who had organised a Christmas charity walk in Estremoz! 🎄

Everyone made a big effort to come in festive gear, donated foodstuffs and toys, and we visited many of the old age homes and refuges in town to drop off some Christmas cheer at each one. 🎅🤶🎁

It turned out to be quite a hike but the atmosphere was very merry with music, song and camaraderie all the way… 🔔🎶🧡

Thank you to the organisers for allowing us to join you! We had a ball! 🥰🫶🙏

Absolutely magical! We were treated to an unexpected sunset display driving home yesterday – a true gift of nature, painting the sky with incredible colours that make you stop and appreciate the simple moments in life 🧡🇵🇹

A first for us and what a treat!

We were invited to join friends in preparing this season’s hand-picked olives in an age-old art of olive pressing – with absolutely no heating, no chemicals and no funny business.

The room was filled with the most incredible, rich scent and the finished result is pure, intense, organic virgin olive oil. We followed the whole process from the land to the (almost) finished product turning beautiful olives into liquid gold.

It’s a pretty magical thing to take part in ✨️🪄🧚‍♀️

Has anyone else noticed the incredibly intense colours of the vineyards this winter?
With summer well and truly over, the green of the leaves has changed into amber, copper and crimson…the vines ready to sleep through the colder months and regenerate for next year. 🍇🍇
But I don’t think we’ve seen it quite so vivid before – unless it is just me??? 🧡🫶
