Câmara de Lobos is one of Madeira’s most famous and picturesque fishing villages, located just west of Funchal. The village is known for its colourful fishing boats, traditional atmosphere, fresh seafood, and dramatic cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

The harbour remains an active fishing port, especially for the traditional black scabbard fish (“espada”), one of Madeira’s best-known dishes. Winston Churchill famously painted the bay during his visit to Madeira in the 1950s, and today you can still visit Miradouro Winston Churchill overlooking the village.

* Porto de Câmara de Lobos — the heart of the fishing village with traditional boats and waterfront cafés.
* Viewpoint of Câmara de Lobos Bay — beautiful panoramic view over the harbour.
* Cabo Girão — one of Europe’s highest sea cliffs with a glass skywalk.
* Promenade de Câmara de Lobos — scenic coastal walk connecting towards Funchal.

Another lovely jeep tour to the west of Madeira, driving along the beautiful back roads. We stopped in several traditional villages and enjoyed the amazing mountain views along the way 🏝️
