The "Entrudo" of Lazarim is considered one of the most authentic Carnival / Shrovetide in Portugal 🇵🇹

It takes place between Fat Saturday and Carnival Tuesday. I attended the ethnographic parade on Fat Sunday, the outing of the "Caretos"!

"Careto" is the masked character garbed with fringe, noisemaking rattles and alder wood masks. This tradition has Celtic roots, from a pre-Roman period.

🎭 Carnival is a period of celebration and temporary release from social obligations and hierarchies: social roles and norms are reversed. It's also a symbolic renewal, the rite of passage from darkness to light, from winter to summer, the first spring festival of the new year. 🌸

Some tours force us outside of our confort zone! This was one of them... I prepared myself for a 3 hours tour in the Maritime Museum! ⚓

I did it and I did it pretty well 🎉🎉🎉 Thank you Steven for the wonderful review!

Now I just need to improve my maritime navigation techniques 😅😅😅
