My name is Fabio, and I am the founder of Yellow Cab.
It began in 2013, when I decided to create a company not just about travelling around Portugal, but about people, emotions, and a true sense of place.
The first thing was a yellow Land Rover Defender.
I loved its shape, character, and the way it looked on the road.
The color became more than a color.
It became part of the visual identity, and with it came Yellow Cab.
There is something symbolic about this: the company began not with an abstract idea, but with something concrete that could be seen on the road.
From the beginning, Yellow Cab stood for a certain perspective, an attitude towards people, and the quality of the experience we create.
My first trip was a young couple from Argentina: Sintra and Cascais, one perfect day.

But there was another part of the story.
I knew Portugal and people well, but quickly realized that building a company is different from knowing your work. I had to learn to find clients, understand expectations, build relationships, and create a system that could grow.
Like many entrepreneurs, I had moments when I was close to giving it all up. But each time, I learned to believe in myself and keep moving forward.
I believe a company is formed in these moments - not when everything works out, but when you overcome difficulties, doubts, tiredness, and keep moving forward.
If I could tell myself one thing in 2013: there will be difficulties, but the joy of overcoming them will outweigh them. Don’t give up.

Today, people remain the most important thing at Yellow Cab. Travellers are looking for more than beautiful places: emotion, a sense of place, and something that stays with them.
That is what «From People to People» means to me: being open, attentive, and creating an experience beyond a ready-made script.
I want not just to show Portugal, but to help people feel it more deeply - through impressions, conversations, and lasting feelings.
That is why I continue to build Yellow Cab - a business where people meet people, and travel becomes personal. I can say one thing with certainty: it is a happy job. It allows me to remain myself, stay true to my principles, and do something valuable.

You can try to see Lisbon.

One city can contain several different cities.
In Graça - a historic neighborhood, everyday street life, and the Tagus in the distance.
In Belém - a different scale: the monastery, the tower, monuments from the Age of Discoveries, and the open space by the water.

That is why the question
“What should I see in Lisbon in one day?”
can sometimes be too small.

A more interesting question might be:
“What kind of Lisbon do I want to understand?”

History?
Architecture?
Neighborhoods?
The water?
Everyday life?

The answer changes the route.
And it changes what you notice along the way.
The city stays the same.
What changes is the perspective from which we see it.

There are different ways to tell a story.
You can give a date.
You can give a name.
You can list events.
But it is much more interesting to look at what happened afterwards.

Today, Cascais is easy to recognize.
The ocean.
The grand houses.
The cafés and hotels.
The feeling of a place that seems as though it has always been a seaside resort.
But it wasn’t always this way.
In 1870, King Luís I chose Cascais as his summer residence, staying in the former governor’s quarters inside the Citadel.
It was a personal decision.
But it changed much more than the king’s summer plans.
The court followed.
Then came the aristocracy.
And Lisbon’s wealthy bourgeoisie.
New houses began to appear. Then came hotels, restaurants and places for entertainment. The town’s social life changed with them.
The royal summer residence helped transform a fishing town into one of Portugal’s fashionable seaside resorts.
This is what makes history interesting.
Sometimes, a city changes because of a single decision.
A decision changes habits.
Habits change the way people use a place.
And, over time, those changes become part of the landscape - so familiar that it can seem as though it has always been there.
That is why a date is rarely the most interesting part of a story about the past.
The better question is:
What did it change?
Because history doesn’t end when an event takes place.
It continues in the streets, the buildings, the habits, and in the way people live afterwards.

Save this principle: next time you hear a historical date, ask yourself - “What did it change?”

NAZARÉ – BEFORE THE GIANT WAVES

Today, it is enough to say Nazaré – and many people will immediately picture a giant wave.
But this town had a life long before Praia do Norte became known around the world.
Nazaré grew out of its connection with the sea.
Fishing traditions.
Local cuisine.
Streets that had their own rhythm long before the cameras arrived here for the big waves.
Above the town lies Sítio – a place with views over the coast and a history of its own.
And only then comes the Nazaré that is now known for big-wave surfing.
There is an important sequence here.
First – the life of the place.
Then – its famous image.
Otherwise, it is easy to come for the wave and leave without ever seeing the town itself.
