Day 9 of walking the coastline of Portugal. Today I walk from Praia Grande to Ericeira. I get a spectacular sunrise of Azenhas do Mar, but the rest of the day is equally spectacular with broad beaches, stunning cliffs, grueling climbs and sweeping views. I also wade through a stream before I arrive in Ericeira!

Day 7 of my walk along the coast of Portugal. The weather has changed. More wind, some clouds and overall better temperatures. I walk through Cascais along the coast and spot some prettig impressive casas (houses). But then the coast opens up for me. Impressive rocks, waves smashing themselves onto them, the wind blowing around my ears. It is a nice and easy walk again, although the wind makes it harder. I can see the hills in front of me, with clouds covering the top. I’ walking uphill and the wind intensifies. I can barely stand my ground 😬 but, I’ve made it again! 💪🏼

Day 6 of hiking the coastline of Portugal. Today I continue in Alges and walk towards Cascais. This is proper coast walking on a small walkway along the coast. I think I was never further than 5 meters from the sea! It starts cool and a bit windy but that is nice for a change. Together with bikers and runners, I move along the promenade. Later, the families, sunseekers and beach lovers come out too. A lovely day 👍🏼 again

Day 5 of my hike along the entire coastline of Portugal. Today I had a restday. But because I still want to keep active, I decided to walk the 10km from Lisbon to Belem today. No pack, very relaxed walking and a bit of sightseeing. I walked underneath the bridge, along the Tagus to Belem for some sunny pictures and some pasteis de Nata. I took the train back to Lisbon to get my pelgrim’s passport from Se Cathedral and I got a massage! Great rest day

Day 4 of hiking the entire coastline of Portugal from Setúbal to Lisbon. I woke up again well before sunrise to bash out the first kilometers before things got too hot. I left Setúbal and headed to the ferry at Montijo. A full day of designated footpaths and cyclepaths. A lot of urban development, industry and….food and refreshments! Had a proper lunch and my first pastel de nata of the trip! Made it to Montijo after 29 km and took the ferry over to LISBON!!
