The Azores absolutely took my breath away! Standing at the edge of a volcanic crater, staring down at twin lakes that shouldn't even be that color of green — I understood immediately why people call this place the Hawaii of Europe.

And here's the thing: this kind of beauty? It's more accessible than you think. Flights from Boston get you there in about 5 hours!

There's a version of travel where you check landmarks off a list. And there's a version where you spend the day in a friend's neighborhood, eating where the locals eat, walking where they walk.
Yesterday in Málaga, we chose the second one.
Our friends relocated to Rincón de la Victoria a year ago, and they gave us the greatest gift a travel advisor can receive — a behind-the-scenes look at a destination through the eyes of someone who actually lives there. Lunch at a chiringuito on the beach eating local specialties. A walk through tunnels cut into coastal cliffs. A fishing village that still feels like it belongs to its people.
This is the kind of intel I carry into every client conversation: not just the "what to see," but the how it feels.

Every once in a while, a place just does something to you.
That's Tangier, Morocco for me. 🇲🇦
Today we explored the ancient medina — winding streets full of hand-painted doors, blooming bougainvillea, ceramic tile work that belonged in a museum. We wandered into Café Baba, tucked along the stairs of the old city, and I completely lost track of time.
Then we made our way to Hercules Cave just outside the city — a dramatic sea cave where, according to legend, Hercules rested before completing his labors. Standing inside looking out at the Atlantic Ocean through that rock opening? Chills.
This is Day 11 of my transatlantic voyage aboard Virgin Voyages, and Morocco has genuinely been one of the most unexpected highlights of the entire trip.

Sea days hit different when you're somewhere between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. 🌊
Today was a full-on decompression day aboard the Valiant Lady — slow mornings, ocean breezes, and zero agenda. And honestly? It was exactly what the soul needed before we pull into Morocco tomorrow. 🇲🇦
Now, I don't know what I expected from a sea day on a luxury sailing, but I did NOT expect to be sitting at arts & crafts channeling my inner 7-year-old making a friendship bracelet. 😂 And yet… here we are. Colors selected with intention. Pattern chosen very seriously. Zero regrets.
This is the part of travel nobody talks about enough — the in-between moments. The slow drift across open water. The deep breath before the next breathtaking destination. The unexpected joy of doing something completely silly while the Atlantic rolls beneath you.
Tomorrow we dock in Morocco and I genuinely cannot contain my excitement. But today? Today belonged to sea vibes, good company, and a friendship bracelet I will absolutely be wearing with my resort wear. 💁🏻‍♀️

Some places don't just look beautiful. They feel different.
Today we drove through Lagoa and made our way up to Sete Cidades, and I honestly wasn't prepared for what was waiting for us.
The air up there? It hits you the moment you step out of the car. Clean, cool, alive in a way that's hard to explain until you're standing in it. And then you turn around and see those crater lakes — two of them, side by side, stretching out in shades of green and blue like the island is showing off just a little.
But what got me most wasn't the view. It was the people. The warmth here is real. Unhurried. Genuine. The kind that reminds you why travel isn't really about the places — it's about how a place makes you feel.
São Miguel has a way of slowing you down and filling you up at the same time.
This is exactly why I do what I do. Helping people find their way to moments like this — not just the luxury resorts or the bucket-list checkboxes, but the feeling of being somewhere that changes you a little.

And tomorrow? TOMORROW. We arrive in São Miguel, Azores — and I honestly cannot contain my excitement. 🌿🌊

This volcanic island in the middle of the Atlantic is one of those places that doesn't even look real. We're talking emerald crater lakes, hot springs, dramatic coastlines, and some of the freshest seafood you'll ever taste.

In 1907, my great-grandfather Benjamin Botelho was just 7 years old when he made a long journey by boat from São Miguel, Azores to the United States. He arrived at Ellis Island — likely passing right by Lady Liberty — carrying nothing but hope and a whole island in his heart. 🗽

Last night, I started that journey in reverse.

As I sail from New York City back toward São Miguel, I'm thinking about him. The streets he wandered. The church where he was baptized. The island he called home before America did. I get to see it all for the first time — and somehow, I already know, it'll feel like home. ❤️

This is why I do what I do. Travel isn't just about destinations. It's about connection — to places, to history, to the people who came before us.
