Did you know that leatherback turtles can lay up to 150 eggs in a single nest, and females almost always return to the very beach where they were born to do so? ๐Ÿข๐Ÿฃ This incredible instinct โ€” known as natal homing โ€” is one of natureโ€™s most astonishing navigational feats.

After travelling thousands of kilometers across the ocean, these ancient mariners came back to the place where their own lives began. Itโ€™s a powerful reminder of the deep connection between marine animals and their environment.

Letโ€™s do our part to protect their nesting grounds and ensure a future where new generations of turtles can continue this timeless journey. ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒ

Our first trip today was spectacular! S***m Whales all over the place, flukes in front of Pico, Sowerby`s Beaked Whales swimming around our boat like dolphins, Risso`s socializing, Spotties full with tiny Newborns, and even Pilot Whales with new Babies. Two more trips to see more. Join us :)

this female S***m Whale certainly had a message for us.
She has a big white scar on her left side from a boat strike and her tail shows clear propeller`s cuts. Accidents with boats are one of the leading causes of death for whales. Next to trash and noise pollution. We need to take better care of their and our environment! Join our cause and help us protect these gentle giants of the sea. They cannot help themselves!

Mating Dolphins are something else! They don`t care about anything, they are so focussed on their exciting game that they forget the world around. A male S***m Whale was obviously with similar intentions and a big mixed group of Risso`s was also socializing right outside of Lajes. Only our Striped Dolphins were as shy as we know them and the Sei Whale was also travelling alone. Still, summer is here and everyone is feeling it.
