Day 3: Closing the Adventure in Style — From Kibuye to Gisenyi by 🚤 Boat

Today, instead of ending our tour early, we chose the adventure route — crossing the beautiful Lake Kivu by boat back to Gisenyi, where we left our car for the drive to Kigali.
But it wasn’t just a boat ride — we hiked to the stunning Napoleon Island, met hundreds of giant fruit bats, and soaked in some of the best panoramic views of the lake.
On top of that, we witnessed a rare and unforgettable scene: cows swimming across Lake Kivu with their herders! Only in Rwanda, only on this trail!

This journey was biking, hiking, boating, exploring, and living the real spirit of Lake Kivu.
And the memories? Just unforgettable.

Day 2: Conquered the Trail’s Toughest Climb! 🚵‍♂️🔥

Today’s 56 km ride from Rushel to Cormoran Lodge was nothing short of epic! We immersed ourselves in vibrant local communities, sharing smiles and stories. The adventure peaked as we waded through the Koko River, bikes hoisted overhead—a true test of grit and determination.

Post-river, we faced the trail’s longest ascent to Bumba, a relentless climb that challenged our limits. But the reward? Descending towards Kibuye, we were greeted with panoramic vistas of Lake Kivu that took our breath away.

This is the essence of the Congo Nile Trail: raw adventure, cultural immersion, and nature’s grandeur.
