A Day in Gorilla Guardian Village

Today, my lovely customer and I stepped into the world of Gorilla Guardian Village, eager to immerse ourselves in the heart of Rwanda’s cultural heritage. Nestled near the Volcanoes National Park, this village serves as a bridge between traditional life and conservation efforts for the majestic mountain gorillas.
Our journey began with a warm Rwandan welcome. Local guides shared the history of their ancestors and their deep-rooted respect for nature. We learned the ways of traditional hunting and medicine, discovering how Rwandans lived in harmony with their environment. My customer was captivated by the stories and crafts on display, from pottery to handwoven baskets, each piece telling its own story of resilience and creativity.
Later, we were invited to join a group performing the "Intore" dance, with young dancers moving proudly to the beat of rhythmic drums. Their graceful movements and the vibrant energy of the dance spoke volumes about Rwanda’s spirit of strength and unity.
Before leaving, we participated in a hands-on activity, creating our own small souvenirs under the guidance of local artisans. As the sun set, we left the village with hearts full of gratitude and memories of a beautiful day spent among the warm, welcoming people of Rwanda. It was a journey not just into the culture, but into the soul of Rwanda itself.
