Big news coming out of Hebron!
This week, the Israeli Civil Administration officially transferred jurisdiction over the Cave of the Forefathers and Mothers to the Hebron-Kiryat Arba Religious Council, clearing the way for long-overdue improvements like installing a permanent roof in the Main Hall.
Until now, you may have noticed that the roof of the main hall of Ma’arat HaMachpela is actually a tent. In the summer, it’s blazing hot. In the winter, freezing. And when it rains, water pours into the women’s section, making it almost impossible to pray.
But that is about to change.
For over 20 years, every basic repair, even changing a light bulb, required Waqf approval. And last year, a roof was even installed (with donor support), only to be removed due to political pressure. But now, we can finally move forward.
This is a huge win. One we’ve been fighting for since Rav Goren led us back into Hebron in 1967 (with G-d’s help). We’re finally seeing the government take responsibility for the safety and dignity of our holiest sites, like they should have done all along. We’ve inspired them!
And while we’re celebrating this historic progress, we’re also celebrating those who are building Hebron’s future.
For his Bar Mitzvah, Nathan Stark rallied his parents, grandparents, friends & family to sponsor a BBQ for IDF soldiers, leading with chesed, just like Avraham Avinu. They spent an inspiring day touring Hebron, including many new sites, and then hosting a BBQ at the Food Truck for hundreds of IDF soldiers.
What better way to celebrate a personal simcha than by giving to others? This is the heart of Hebron: honoring our past and investing in our future. Together.

Hebron. Our sacred city bequeathed by our forefathers. Many nations tried to erase the Jewish presence in Hebron. Our ancestors defied hostile neighbors, claims to their homes, lack of funds and little awareness of their struggles. Despite the odds, they bravely held on to our biblical city for us.
