The never-ending vet story of Pumba… 🐾

It’s been exactly one month since Pumba suddenly developed a massively swollen face on the right side. He could barely open his mouth and was very quiet and miserable. At first, we suspected a snake bite or an insect sting somewhere inside his mouth.

After several examinations, X-rays and treatment, we still didn’t have an answer. His condition improved for a while, but then his eye suddenly became so swollen that the conjunctiva was already protruding. So we ended up doing a CT in Skellefteå – unfortunately, the images had technical problems and couldn’t be properly interpreted.

Then, finally, things seemed to improve. The swelling disappeared, he started eating normally again and was back to running around like an idiot. 😅 I even took the third photo on Sunday to send to my colleague because I was happy to show her how well he was doing.

And then yesterday evening: swollen eye again, this time also oozing.

So this morning we were back at the clinic. Now he gets new antibiotics. And we arranged a new CT appointment. This time we’re driving to Gällivare, more than 3.5 hours each way. Pumba will definitely not be impressed – he likes the trailer, but really doesn’t like driving in a car. 🙈

We just really hope that this time the CT gives us usable images and, finally, some idea of what is actually going on.

It’s been a pretty exhausting month of thinking he’s getting better, only to start worrying again a few days later. We’ll keep looking until we know what’s wrong. Pumba wants to run again, in front of the ATV, not from one appointment to the next 🥰

Every litter we breed has its own story, and choosing the names is one of our favourite traditions.

This time, we chose Rocky & Everest. 🐾🏔️

Their names have a special double meaning.

Their father Zazu is from our The Lion King litter, so we continued the movie theme with two characters from Paw Patrol.

At the same time, Rocky and Everest also represent the mountains and wilderness that are such a big part of our lives. Their mother Mavas is named after a beautiful mountain lake in Swedish Lapland, making the names a perfect connection to both parents.

We love names that tell a story, and for these two, we couldn’t have imagined a more fitting pair.

Welcome to the world, Rocky & Everest. ❤️🐾

Midsummer on the Lofoten 🇳🇴☀️

Everyone who knows me knows how much I love Norway.

Four days on the Lofoten gave us a bit of everything. Sunshine, midnight sun, white beaches, breathtaking views, rain, fog and winds strong enough to remind us who’s in charge.

We made it up Reinebringen, camped by the sea and explored some incredible places. Later, the weather had other plans. Mountains disappeared into the clouds and rain became our constant companion.

That’s not frustrating. It’s part of the experience.

I spend a lot of my life outdoors, but Norway still has a way of leaving me speechless.

And the mountains we missed? They’ll still be there next time. ❤️🇳🇴

Season end tour 2026 ❄️🐕🥰

In March it seemed that winter will be over even before Easter has come… and indeed many trails at home as well as in the mountains got difficult early in the season. But trust in the weather: winter in Lapland is not over before May. It got colder again and so I had the chance for a last tour in the mountains with our friend Andy

Five days just the two of us and fourteen dogs… snow, sun, wind, ice and great atmosphere. Most of the area was already closed with respect to the reindeers, so the biggest part of our tour was off trail. Not only good training for the dogs (and me 😉) also guarantee that you will not meet anyone and have all the beautiful nature for yourself 🥰

Honestly, I can’t imagine a better way to end this winter season. Now the sleds will take a rest for summer - that is hopefully not too long. For me, winter can start over soon 😂

A quiet night under the northern lights ✨

One of those nights on our Huskies & Mountains tour that quietly stays with you.

The tent glowing softly in the dark, a thin layer of snow around us, mountains fading into the night. The sled resting, the dogs finally curled up, everything slowing down.

And above it all — gentle northern lights.
Soft waves of green, red and purple drifting across a sky full of stars.

No rush, no noise. Just the stillness of the mountains and that quiet feeling of being exactly where you’re meant to be.

These are the moments you can’t plan. Only be there for.

Huskies & Mountains — an adventure for life 🐕🏔️🥰

Last week we set off into the Swedish mountains, tracing a route from Örnvik via Miekak, Pieskehaure, Tarrekaise, Kvikkjokk, Västerfjäll — and back to where it all began.

What an incredible experience. The unusually warm weather made parts of the trail pretty challenging (those moments didn’t exactly make it into photos 😉), but it also made everything feel even more rewarding.

We were gifted with dancing Northern Lights above our tent and bivy (photos coming soon ✨), magical morning light, steep climbs and descents, fairytale forests — and even a little storm sweeping across the fjäll on our final stretch.

And the dogs… just amazing. 🐾
We’re endlessly grateful to have them by our side (close-ups coming soon!).

Already dreaming about the next adventure in the mountains — even if it means waiting until next season…
But who knows, maybe winter has one more surprise left for us ❄️☺️

This morning was colder than expected — around −30°C 🥶
Sunrise was just around the corner. So why not try another Arctic-style shot.

We boiled some water, filled a few thermos bottles, jumped on the snowmobile and rode out to a quiet spot.
The air was sharp, the light soft, the landscape completely still.

The Mpemba effect: hot water thrown into the air freezes so fast it turns into snow before it can fall back to the ground.

This is our life in Lapland. Not everyday. But one of the moments to enjoy 🥰
