“And complete the Hajj and Umrah for Allah…”
— Surah Al-Baqarah 2:196

This ayah reminds us that Umrah is not simply a journey. It is an act of worship done for Allah alone.

The words لِلَّهِ — “for Allah” are what give the journey its meaning.

You leave your routine, your comfort and your home. You enter ihram. You make tawaf. You walk between Safa and Marwah. You make du’a. You give your time, energy and wealth — all with the intention of seeking Allah’s pleasure.

The rest of the ayah explains what should be done if a pilgrim is prevented from completing the rites, reminding us that even this sacred journey comes with guidance, responsibility and rulings.

Umrah is not only about reaching Makkah.

It is about how you arrive, why you came, and Who you came for.

May Allah purify our intentions, accept our worship, and continuously make us guests of His Sacred House.

Tawaf — Seven rounds around the Ka’bah, each one is an act of worship. 🕋

Begin at the Black Stone, keep the Ka’bah to your left, and complete seven circuits.

There is no fixed du’a for every round. Make du’a from your heart, recite Qur’an, make dhikr and ask Allah for everything you need.

Between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone, recite:

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbana atina fid-dunya ḥasanatan wa fil-akhirati ḥasanatan wa qina adhaban-nar.

“Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the Fire.”

Voluntary Tawaf can also be performed with the intention of gifting the reward to someone else, though scholars differ on the details.

May Allah accept your Tawaf, your du’as and every step taken for His sake.

Not everyone is given the opportunity to visit the House of Allah.

Some spend years making du’a. Others save for a lifetime, hoping for the chance.

If Allah has blessed you with this journey, ask yourself:

What have I done with this blessing?
Have I encouraged someone else to go?
Have I reminded them of Allah?
Have I invited them towards His House?

Perhaps those small acts of goodness will be among the deeds that weigh heavily on our scales when we stand before Allah, seeking His mercy.

May Allah make us grateful for His blessings, accept our efforts, and grant us His mercy on the Day of Judgement.

Do not delay what brings you closer to Allah.

If Allah has blessed you with the means to perform Umrah, don’t keep waiting for the “perfect” time or for everyone else’s plans to align. Prioritise your relationship with Him and answer His call when you are able.

Then, if Allah has blessed you with even more, extend that blessing to others. Help a parent, a spouse, a sibling, or someone in need experience the beauty of His House.

Never postpone an opportunity for worship because of the expectations of people. The greatest investment you can make is in your akhirah.

May Allah invite us to His House, accept our worship, and allow us to be a means for others to answer His call.
