About Schira Hassan
Affordable food muncher, safe haven creator, random knowledge collector and currently saying yes to new adventures! Schira's micro entrepeneuring began in 2020 with her Vegan Ambeng and Vegan Rawon having a consistent demand through Facebook but particularly through word of mouth. She hopes to sell the problem she has helped solved. All eaters welcome!

This September, Earth Adventures x Schira Hassan present a very special East Coast Heritage Brunch at .official Joo Chiat. The exclusive menu revives and commemorates Singapore's "forgotten laksa", LAKSA SIGLAP*, and adapts its recipe to become 100% plant-based. Served with it are re-imagined dishes that mobile hawkers used to hawk, but are not easily found in contemporary food centres anymore.

This wonderfully curated brunch menu is lovingly prepared to be entirely vegan, but will tantilise all flexitarians out there!

To start: Sukun (Fried breadfruit slices with house dipping suace)

Main: Laksa Siglap (a heritage version of laksa, rare in contemporary hawker centres and restaurants)

Side Dish: Mangga Colek (Harum manis mangoes with seasonal fruit rojak)

Dessert: Housemade Cold Cheng Tng

Tickets are $39/pax or $75/pair. Book early as brunch tickets are limited. We require all diners except children to be fully vaccinated. Kids' meal sets (chicken cottage pie with bottled juice) are available to accompany the main menu.

*Laksa Siglap may just be Singapore's "forgotten laksa". Much less common than Nyonya laksa and Assam laksa, it has its origins in Johor. A different type of noodles and a different rempah were used in this laksa, which later spread to Singapore and was widely sold by mobile hawkers in the Siglap area. It thus gained the name, "Laksa Siglap" in Singapore. These "laksa chap" noodles come in shorter and thicker oval-shaped pieces and have a similar chewy texture to bee tai mak. Its thickness and chewiness is achieved with a mixture of tapioca starch and rice flour.
