Traveling Noodle

Traveling Noodle Food.Drink.Travel His passion for good food and better drinks was honed on the streets of Singapore and Melbourne.

This is his journey of passions that he shares with the world. It is curated to be an enabler, for the person on the street to access accurate information on the fabulous places he visits and empower them with choice. His food adventure started as a child where his folks would throng the streets of Singapore for the best prawn noodle stalls as part of their weekend excursions; and when in Melbourn

e, eat his way through Lygon street to find the best pasta Mama could make. It has up-scaled (because of age) to scouting for the best tipple and food in Singapore and whichever city he visits. Scarred by a post on Bangkok cafes from a popular food blog on his maiden trip there, he decided that there should be better voices on the internet to help people make discerning decisions for their palette.

“Jinjja Nice!” “Did I say it right?” I asked.
“I would have said it the same way” June replied.

Bingsu Fixz - Red Bean, , strawberries, .sg Ondeh-Ondeh Soju, White Chocolate, CO2.

The painstakingly hand painted white chocolate (lick, don’t bite) adds that creamy texture to June’s Korean dessert on steroids; with popular red bean and strawberries as validated flavours and the coconut-ish kueh as the local angle.

The use of the triple distilled, sake inspired Haku paired with the Ondeh-Ondeh Soju gives the drink a subliminal sweetness with flora notes and gives the drink a sort of roundness to it.

Conceptually, it works; in reality, it rocks.

GRLA is a conceptual pop by June and Sonny at (2nd floor, on top of .sg ) that is on till 29 Jan. Open Tue-Sat 1700 until THEY are 86. DM the duo for reservations.

Happy to be your first reservation and thank you for your awesome hospitality!

Jorge Smith, a twist of the Copper mug classic with house made jalapeño-infused vodka to pack in the heat and spice; is an allusion to a New Yorker in Cancun sipping this while overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. A classy backbone with a spiced wild side that gets elevated with the jalapeños and then soothed with lemon bitters and a touch of mint.

Part of travel themed cocktail menu that entices imbibers with flavours from around the world.

The bar retains the “Great Gatsby”-isque interior of its predecessor exuding a 1930s, retro vibe feel that transports you to Scott Fitzgerald’s lala land.

📍The Intercontinental Singapore, Libby Level, 80 Middle Road, Singapore 188966

The East side craft beer outpost boasts 20 taps of craft beers, in styles ranging from the your refreshing Pilsner-Lagers to Hoppy IPAs with a couple of Tangy Sours and Barrel-aged Dark ones, something for everyone.

This Yuletide season, they are doing a “12 beers of Christmas” campaign where each day till the 24th Dec, a specific awesome beer will go at a 30% discount; come on Christmas Eve and 2 beers will be on offer. So far I’ve seen a lambic and a DIPA on offer.
But more than just craft beers, the Mod-Asian Izakaya style menu and their burgers are as mouthwatering as their tap list; very few places do both this well with only the best hospitality from Desmond and co.

Tapout is at

Opening hours are on their Bio.
Close on Mon.

Deer, Nagasaki, Japan.

Indulgent main from 7-course menu. The deer was delicious and tender, seasoned lightly with a nice light sear and accompanied by fresh seasonal vegetables from Kumamoto and an awesome red wine sauce.

Thank you Chef and Nakata-San for making this happen for us.

“Sure!”
“Tell me about this new concoction”
“You know I used to work in Golden G*i right…this is 5am At Golden G*i”

Waka-made Coffee infused Shochu, Mezcal, vanilla, toasted coconuts, Cointreau and “others” in a refreshing yet peated and umami flavour with a full mouthfeel; an ode to the witching hour at Golden G*i where last drinks are as complex as navigating the maze like alley way to make your way home…or not.

A sneak of Gold Bar at Edition’s new menu by . Singapore is much poorer without the creative nuance and experience of an amazing bartender.

“You are Waka’s friend? Ah! She has arranged everything, so there is no time limit” I teared.

Thank you Waka and Gold Bar for the awesome hospitality.

Friday (Saturday) Night Lights. This was the last frame before my camera battery died.
The friendly banter, a couple’s late supper, a drunk girl sound asleep; that sums up my local in Kabukicho. You don’t need that high-end Sushi-ya or Kaiseki space, just find your comfortable space in the myriad of alleys and make it your own.
It’s been almost a decade since we chanced upon you, . It is always good to come back to my Midnight Diner.

Happy World Pasta Day!

This is easily pasta spot of 2022, right in my 2nd hood. dishes out well made, Fatto A Mano, absolutely mouth-watering pasta dishes with an emphasis on taste and craft.

Melbourne has got some of the best pasta spots in the world and this is definitely one of them. This gives that “Eric Bana” spot a run for its money.

The Rockstar Uncle was extremely excited for us to check it out since we missed out in 2019; and after a whole day in the city and Thornbury (3 Ravens and Carwyn Cellars), this really hit the spot.

More than decent natty wine list, what I like about it the most is that cozy, comforting, mama trattoria vibe and modern interiors that mashes so well with the historic building. I used to say that you haven’t been to South Melbourne without a breakfast of croissant and coffee… now, you’ve not been to South Melbourne if you’ve not had Pasta!

What do you pair a Singapore-inspired Fried Chicken Burger with? A Singapore craft beer of course.
The folks in the UK did one better; collaborated with and as part of the UK brewery’s famed Patrons’ Project to bring that distinct zesty, citrusy and crisp Kolsch to accompany the Cereal Fried Chicken Burger, inspired by Cereal Prawn which the Honest Burgers’ folks had while they were in Singapore.
This Lager-style Kolsch is quintessentially Singaporean with hints of lemongrass and lime zest, the perfect accompaniment for some Tzi Char, namely Har Cheong Kai (Prawn Paste Chicken) and yes, Mai Pian Xia (Cereal Prawns); actually I am sure it would go lovely with some lemak dishes.
Special shout out to for the awesome label design, she also designed the original Off Day labels; and for being the stitch.
The UK has had it since Aug and looking at the ratings, they seemed to really like it, especially in this 2022 summer.
It’s available now at and .sg but it really should be available at all good Tzi Char spots and hawker centres. If your Hup Choon or Kok Sen does not have this, ask them to let you BYO OR you should rethink your life choices.
