is heading to Johor for what is shaping up to be an annual affair: our one-day durian tour, to be held at the height of durian season in July. For those of us that like the fruit, the highlight will be a durian lunch buffet. But for others, there’ll be alternative activities, too: shopping therapy at various stops, including a visit to a mall.

Ticket sales for commence next week, and seats are limited. So come join us as we cross borders together for the first time this year. We hope to have many of you join us! Full details are in the poster.

is organizing a five-day trip to Taiwan over the September school holidays. I’ll be joining the group on the tour, along with my family (including Mom and a couple of her friends in tow).

Taiwan is a fascinating place; not only for its food and culture—which, by most measures, is pretty amazing—but also because its economy is such a case study of resilience, innovation, and enterprise. And notwithstanding its more recent emergence as a newly-industrialized Dragon economy, the island has a long and rich history, including being the birthplace of the Austronesian languages (one of the world’s largest language families, which includes Malay and Tagalog).
