As the world celebrates the Girl Child, young people in Makeni gathered for an impactful and enlightening session focused on menstrual hygiene, girls’ health, and empowerment. The gathering highlighted the importance of creating a community where every girl is supported, educated, empowered, and given the opportunity to thrive.

The sessions were highly informative and featured distinguished personalities, including Madam Kate Krontiris, wife of the Chief Minister of Sierra Leone, and Honourable Aminata Sessay, a prominent Parliamentarian. Their participation added great value to the discussions, inspiring young people and reinforcing the need for continued advocacy for girls’ rights, health, dignity, and empowerment.

Beyond the knowledge shared, the initiative also provided girls with menstrual hygiene kits, demonstrating a practical commitment to promoting menstrual health, improving access to essential hygiene products, and ensuring that no girl is left behind because of her menstrual needs.

This impactful initiative was organized by Youth Advocacy for Sustainable Development (YAD-SL).

Together, we are building a future where every girl has access to the knowledge, resources, and support she needs to reach her full potential.
