Pan-Nyok PHCC struggles with just one admission bed

Pan-Nyok Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) in Twic County, Warrap State, is facing a critical shortage of admission beds, forcing patients to receive treatment on the floor.

Jel Ayuel Atem, the Clinical Officer in charge of the facility, said the centre has only one admission bed, which is not enough for the number of patients requiring inpatient care.

โ€œWe have one bed, and this one cannot take two or three patients. Patients lie on the ground, which is not good in the health system,โ€ Atem said.

The shortage has raised concerns about patient safety and comfort, as Pan-Nyok PHCC serves a large community in the area.

Twic County Health Director, James Garang Chuol, confirmed that bed shortages are a common challenge across several health facilities in the county.

โ€œOur partners, who support us with items such as GOAL, have been informed about the challenge of bed shortages in various health facilities. They are working on this issue, and once they bring the supplies, we will be able to support many other facilities that lack beds, not only Pan-Nyok,โ€ Chuol stated.

The health centre continues to provide care despite the shortage, but staff and local authorities are calling for urgent support to improve conditions and ensure patients are treated safely.
