His Excellency Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit
President of the Republic of South Sudan
Juba, South Sudan

Dear Mr. President,

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to you today with a sincere request concerning the current circumstances surrounding former Spy Chief Gen. Akol Koor Kuch, who has been placed under house arrest.

As you are well aware, Gen. Kuch has served our nation with distinction as the Director General of the Internal Security Bureau within the National Security Service. His unwavering commitment to the stability and security of South Sudan has been evident throughout his career. The long-standing working relationship you both share has been marked by mutual respect and collaboration, contributing significantly to the peace and security of our beloved country.

In these challenging times, I urge you to consider releasing Gen. Kuch from house arrest. It is crucial for our nation to prioritize collective interests over individual circumstances. His experience and insights can play a vital role in fostering dialogue and unity among various factions within our society. Now, more than ever, we need to forge a path forward that emphasizes reconciliation and collaboration.

Releasing Gen. Kuch would not only demonstrate your commitment to justice and fairness but also signal a willingness to embrace a new chapter in South Sudan's journey. Together, we can work towards rebuilding trust and cooperation among our people, ultimately leading to a more stable and prosperous future.

I respectfully plead with you to consider this request for the greater good of our nation. Let us rise above personal grievances and focus on what is best for the future of South Sudan. It is only you to provide a "political and moral will" to ensure peace and prosperity in our beloved nation. Have a change of heart and act as a statesman for the sake of our country and unity of our people, for now and beyond.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I remain hopeful for your understanding and support as God blesses you abundantly.

Sincerely,

Abraham Majak Makur

Stop Speculation: Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel Kuol is NOT yet a President of the RSS, but an SPLM 1st Deputy Chairman, VP and Chair of Economic Cluster, RSS

By: Abraham Majak Makur

Let me begin with this statement by George Orwell, "In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is revolutionary act". In recent times, speculation surrounding Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel Kuol's elevation from being the Presidential Advisor on Special Programs to VP & Chair of Economic Cluster, and SPLM 1st Deputy Chairman, respectively, has gained traction in various circles. These unfounded claims often distract from his significant contributions and the positive impact he has made in the economic cluster docket in a short span of time. It is crucial to address these speculations head-on, ensuring that the truth prevails.

Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel's Records of Accomplishment:

Before I delve further, Dr. Bol Mel Kuol is not just a name; he joined the SPLA/M war of liberation at the tender age in his own volition. Most of us in the Red Army Fraternity could attest to that fact. Additionally, Dr. Bol is a distinguished scholar and a dedicated professional who has made remarkable strides in his personal growth, especially in private sector and other fields that led to his trust by the President of the Republic of South Sudan, H. E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit. Furthermore, his extensive personal commitment has catapulted him up at our watch and immensely contributed to his rapid rise and advancements in the South Sudan political transition particularly to represent the young people who are underrepresented section of our revolutionary groups or categories.. Rather than focusing on baseless rumors, we should celebrate his achievements and the positive changes he has fostered. In this regard, I want to thank the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Red Army Foundation, Cde. Deborah Chiditgam Agok, for her courage to respond to some of the wild denigrations from "disgruntled elements" from Aweil against Dr. Benjamin Bol. These utterances were not only aimed at slamming Dr. Bol but equally to deny the unwavering loyalty and heroic participation of the Red Army members in the war of liberation that cost us more than three million lives and property.

In my humble opinion, Dr. Bol Mel’s apppintment is a great trust in young people, and should be used as a stepping stone to climb the leadership ladder in order to ensure effective governance functioning of a state like South Sudan.

The Danger of Misinformation:

Fellow South Sudanese, you need to know the danger of misinformation. Countries like Rwanda and others were brought down by negative rhetoric and baseless speculation. Speculation can lead to misinformation, which can be damaging not only to individuals but also to communities. It is vital to differentiate between fact and fiction. It is very earlier to conclude on his actions. Dr. Kuol has always advocated for transparency and accountability. Engaging in speculation undermines these values and can create unnecessary divisions within our society.

Dr. Bol Mel’s Impact of Leadership on the Contemporary Generations:

Dr. Kuol's leadership has inspired many, particularly among young scholars and professionals. Being a promising young man at the leadership echelon, he serves as a mentor, guiding the next generation toward success. Instead of fostering doubt, we should support leaders who strive to make a difference. Encouraging speculation only detracts from the essential work being done.

A Call for Unity:

Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel has been called for a national duty and this could happen to anyone in South Sudan. You can be called to assist leadership, defense the country aginst internal and/or external interference and any other citizenry role as guided by the constitution of this land. Of course, a journey of thousand miles begins with one step. Dr. Bol Mel is not yet a president of the Republic of South Sudan, he is the VP and Chair of the Economic Custer - a position under the President of the RepublicofSouthSudan. In today's world, we must unite to combat baseless speculation and support individuals who are making a positive impact. Dr. Bol Mel Kuol deserves our respect and recognition for his hard work and dedication. By standing against speculation, we promote a culture of understanding and collaboration.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, let us focus on the facts and celebrate the contributions of individuals like Dr. Bol Mel Kuol. By doing so, we not only honor his work but also encourage a more informed and united community. It is time to put an end to speculation and embrace the positive narratives that drive us forward.

May Almighty God bless South Sudan!
