🍄 เข้าสู่ฤดูเห็ดแล้วในฟินแลนด์

ช่วงนี้เดินออกไปหลังบ้านก็เจอเห็ดขึ้นเองตามธรรมชาติในสนามหญ้าแบบนี้เลย 😄
ไม่ได้ปลูก ไม่ได้ดูแล ธรรมชาติจัดการให้เอง

พอเข้าเดือนกันยายน เห็ดป่าก็เริ่มเป็นอีกหนึ่งสัญญาณว่า ฤดูใบไม้ร่วงของฟินแลนด์กำลังมา

คนฟินแลนด์นิยมเข้าป่าไปเก็บเห็ดกันมาก เรียกว่า sienestys บางคนรู้จักเห็ดกันเป็นสิบ ๆ ชนิด และมีจุดประจำในป่าที่ไปเก็บกันทุกปี

ส่วนเรายังอยู่ในขั้น “เห็นเห็ดแล้วถ่ายรูปก่อน” 😂🍄

เพราะเห็ดป่าหลายชนิดหน้าตาคล้ายกันมาก และไม่ใช่ทุกชนิดจะกินได้ ถ้าไม่รู้จักจริง ๆ ก็อย่าเด็ดมากินเด็ดขาด

ฤดูใบไม้ร่วงที่ฟินแลนด์ไม่ได้มีแค่ใบไม้เปลี่ยนสี แต่มีทั้งเห็ด เบอร์รี ฝน อากาศเย็น และอะไรอีกหลายอย่างที่ค่อย ๆ เปลี่ยนไปตามฤดูกาล

🐆❄️ Snow leopard เสือดาวหิมะ (Panthera uncia) เป็นหนึ่งในแมวใหญ่ที่เราว่าน่าทึ่งที่สุดชนิดหนึ่ง และตัวจริงสวยมากกว่าที่คิด

แต่รู้ไหมว่า . . .

🏔️ มันอยู่บนภูเขาสูงมาก
Snow leopard อาศัยอยู่ตามเทือกเขาในเอเชียกลาง รวมถึง Himalayas และในฤดูร้อนสามารถขึ้นไปอยู่สูงถึงประมาณ 6,000 metres above sea level ได้เลย

❄️ มันถูกสร้างมาเพื่อความหนาวโดยเฉพาะ
ขนหนา (ดูนุ่มมากกก) อุ้งเท้ามีขนปกคลุม และช่องจมูกกว้างช่วยจัดการกับอากาศเย็นและบางบนภูเขา

🧣 หางไม่ได้มีไว้แค่ทรงตัว
หางที่ยาวและหนามากช่วยรักษาสมดุลเวลาปีนเขาชัน ๆ และเวลานอนก็สามารถเอามาพันรอบตัวหรือปิดจมูกเพื่อเพิ่มความอบอุ่นได้ด้วย

👣 อุ้งเท้าก็เหมือนรองเท้าหิมะ
ขนที่ปกคลุมเท้าช่วยเพิ่มพื้นที่สัมผัส ทำให้เดินบนหิมะนุ่ม ๆ ได้ดีขึ้น

🎯 นักล่าที่ต้อง “เดินทางไกล”
อาหารในภูเขามีไม่มาก Snow leopard จึงต้องเดินทางเป็นระยะทางไกลเพื่อหาเหยื่อ และสามารถกระโดดเข้าใส่เหยื่อจากระยะประมาณ 6–15 metres

🤫 และมันไม่ได้คำรามแบบสิงโตหรือเสือ
Snow leopard ไม่สามารถ roar ได้ แต่มีเสียงร้องแบบแมว เช่น growling และ meowing

😂 ชื่อก็หลอกเราอีกอย่างหนึ่ง
ถึงจะชื่อ snow leopard แต่จริง ๆ แล้วมัน ไม่ได้เป็นญาติใกล้ชิดกับ leopard มากอย่างที่ชื่อทำให้คิด!

🐆 แล้ว Snow Leopards ที่ Korkeasaari ล่ะ?

ตอนนี้ Korkeasaari มี Tamani และ Taruna — สองพี่น้องเพศเมียที่เกิดที่ Basel Zoo ประเทศสวิตเซอร์แลนด์ในปี 2022 และย้ายมาที่ Helsinki ในเดือนมีนาคม 2024

พวกเธออาศัยอยู่ด้วยกันใน Cat Valley และทั้งคู่เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโครงการอนุรักษ์ระดับยุโรป หรือ EAZA Ex-situ Programme (EEP) ซึ่งช่วยวางแผนการเพาะขยายพันธุ์ของสัตว์ในสวนสัตว์ยุโรปโดยคำนึงถึงพันธุกรรมและประชากรในระยะยาว

และ Korkeasaari เองมีประวัติศาสตร์กับ Snow Leopard ยาวนานมาก — ตั้งแต่ทศวรรษ 1960 ที่นี่กลายเป็นหนึ่งในสวนสัตว์ที่ประสบความสำเร็จอย่างมากในการเพาะขยายพันธุ์ชนิดนี้ และมีลูกเสือดาวหิมะเกิดที่นี่ มากกว่า 100 ตัว ตลอดหลายทศวรรษที่ผ่านมา

ที่น่าสนใจยิ่งกว่าคือ Korkeasaari ยังสนับสนุนการอนุรักษ์ Snow Leopard ในธรรมชาติ ผ่าน Snow Leopard Trust และมีการวิจัยติดตามการเคลื่อนไหวของพวกมันด้วย GPS และ wildlife cameras ในมองโกเลีย เพื่อเข้าใจว่าพวกมันใช้พื้นที่ภูเขาอย่างไร และจะช่วยปกป้องพื้นที่เหล่านั้นได้อย่างไร

ดังนั้น วันนี้ที่เราเห็นเจ้าตัวนี้เดินอยู่ตรงหน้า…

มันไม่ได้เป็นแค่
“โอ้โห! Snow Leopard!” 🐆

แต่มันคือสัตว์ชนิดหนึ่งที่มีทั้งเรื่องราวของ วิวัฒนาการ การปรับตัว การอนุรักษ์ และงานวิจัย อยู่เบื้องหลัง

และสำหรับคนที่พามาดูสัตว์กับเด็ก ๆ
นี่แหละคือสิ่งที่เราชอบที่สุดของการมาสวนสัตว์

วันนี้เราโชคดีจริง ๆ ที่เจ้าตัวนี้ยอมออกมาให้เห็น 🐆❄️

Korkeasaari Zoo ไม่ได้เป็นแค่สถานที่ที่พาเด็กมาดูว่า “ตัวนี้คือลิง ตัวนั้นคือเสือ” แต่เป็นเหมือน outdoor classroom ที่เด็กได้เดิน ได้สังเกต ได้ตั้งคำถาม และได้เรียนรู้ว่า สิ่งมีชีวิตแต่ละชนิดอยู่ร่วมกับโลกใบนี้อย่างไร

ที่ชอบคือสวนสัตว์ตั้งอยู่บน เกาะ Korkeasaari กลางทะเล Baltic ใกล้ใจกลาง Helsinki — มาเที่ยว zoo แต่ได้ทั้งธรรมชาติ การเดินเล่น และวิวทะเลไปพร้อมกันเลย

และนี่คือ fun fact ที่เพิ่งรู้แล้วชอบมาก:

🦁 สัตว์ไม่ได้จำเป็นต้องออกมาโชว์ตัวให้เราดูตลอดเวลา
ถ้าอยากเห็นสัตว์ active มากขึ้น ลองมาเช้าหรือช่วงให้อาหาร เพราะสัตว์เองก็มีสิทธิ์เลือกว่าจะพัก หลบ หรืออยู่มุมไหนของบ้านตัวเองได้ นี่เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของ animal welfare ที่ดี

🐯 เสือใหญ่ไม่ได้กินทุกวัน!
ที่ Korkeasaari เสือใน Cat Valley มี fasting days ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับจังหวะการกินตามธรรมชาติของสัตว์นักล่า

🐍 ส่วนสัตว์เขตร้อนบางชนิดกินน้อยจนน่าตกใจ — งูบางตัวอาจกินเพียง เดือนละครั้ง! 😂

🌍 และอีกเรื่องที่ทำให้รู้สึกว่า “นี่แหละ zoo ของยุคใหม่”

ประมาณ หนึ่งในสามของชนิดสัตว์ที่ Korkeasaari เลี้ยงอยู่เป็นสัตว์ใกล้สูญพันธุ์และอยู่ในโครงการอนุรักษ์ โดยการผสมพันธุ์ไม่ได้จับคู่กันตามใจ แต่มีการติดตามสายพันธุ์และพันธุกรรมร่วมกับสวนสัตว์อื่น ๆ ในยุโรป เพื่อรักษาประชากรให้แข็งแรงในระยะยาว

เพราะฉะนั้น สิ่งที่เด็กเห็นตรงหน้า
อาจไม่ได้เป็นแค่ “สัตว์ในกรง”

แต่มันคือบทเรียนเล็ก ๆ เรื่อง
biodiversity, animal welfare, conservation และการอยู่ร่วมกับธรรมชาติ

และสำหรับเฟย์…

ดูเหมือนเราจะมี outdoor classroom ประจำบ้าน แล้วหนึ่งแห่ง 😍🐾

We keep coming back every weekend. 🐾

Because Korkeasaari Zoo is so much more than a place to see animals — especially with a child.

It feels like an outdoor classroom where Fey can walk, observe, ask questions and slowly discover how different species live, adapt and share our planet.

And the setting is pretty special too: the zoo is on Korkeasaari Island in the Baltic Sea, just a short distance from Helsinki city centre. So a zoo trip also means fresh air, nature, walking and a little island adventure.

A few clever facts we’ve learned:

🦁 Animals don’t have to perform for us.
They can hide, rest or simply decide not to come out. That is actually part of good animal welfare. If you want to see more activity, feeding times and cooler parts of the day are often your best bet.

🐯 Big cats don’t necessarily eat every day.
The big cats at Korkeasaari have fasting days as part of their natural feeding rhythm.

🐍 And some tropical animals take “intermittent fasting” to another level — some snakes may eat only once a month! 😂

🌍 But perhaps the most interesting part is what happens behind the scenes.

Korkeasaari isn’t simply keeping animals for people to look at. About one third of its animal species are endangered species involved in European ex-situ conservation programmes. Breeding and transfers are carefully planned together with other zoos to maintain healthy, genetically diverse populations.

So what looks like a simple family day out can actually become a lesson in:

biodiversity + animal welfare + conservation + curiosity.

And for Fey, it seems we’ve accidentally found our favourite outdoor classroom in Helsinki.

📷 ชวนมางานศิลปะและภาพถ่าย “Savanniunelmia – ความฝันแห่งทุ่งสะวันนา” 🦒🌿

วันนี้แยมเพิ่งไปชมนิทรรศการ “Savanniunelmia” (Savannah Dreams) ที่ Kauniainen City Gallery มา เป็นนิทรรศการภาพวาดและภาพถ่ายที่ถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวของ ธรรมชาติ สัตว์ป่า และทุ่งสะวันนาในประเทศเคนยา 🦒🦁🌅

งานนี้จัดโดยศิลปิน Ritva Kokkola-Lemarchand และช่างภาพ Päivi Arvonen ซึ่งทำงานเกี่ยวกับธรรมชาติและสัตว์ป่าในเคนยามาตั้งแต่ปี 2019

และที่พิเศษคือ Päivi เป็นเพื่อนแยมเองค่ะ ❤️

ใครที่สนใจอยากมาชมงาน แยมอยากชวนให้แวะมากันนะคะ เพราะ เข้าชมฟรี ไม่มีค่าใช้จ่าย 🎨

I think there’s something truly magical about a photograph captured in the exact moment when a person locks eyes with an animal and presses the shutter. Somehow, the feeling of that moment is preserved in the image, and travels straight into the heart of the viewer. ❤️

📷 An invitation to “Savannah Dreams” in Finland 🦒🌿
Today, I visited “Savanniunelmia” (Savannah Dreams) at the Kauniainen City Gallery — an exhibition featuring paintings and photography inspired by the Kenyan savanna, wildlife and nature. 🦒🦁🌅

The exhibition features paintings by Ritva Kokkola-Lemarchand and photographs by Päivi Arvonen, who has been working with Kenyan nature and wildlife since 2019.

And there’s a special connection for me — Päivi is actually my friend. ❤️

If you’re interested in visiting, I’d love to invite you to come along. Admission is completely FREE! 🎨

👓 แว่นหาย 3 วัน…ในฟินแลนด์!

หายไปแบบไม่มีวี่แวว
ค้นบ้านแล้ว ค้นกระเป๋าแล้ว ค้นทุกที่ที่คิดว่าจะอยู่…ก็ไม่เจอ

วันนี้เดินผ่านม้านั่งในสวนแถวบ้านแบบไม่ได้คิดอะไร…

อ้าวววววว! 👓😳
นั่นมันแว่นฉันเอง!!!

😂😂😂

นั่งนึกอยู่พักใหญ่…

เอ๊ะ หรือวันนั้นเรามานั่งทำงานตรงนี้แล้วลืมไว้?

หรือจริง ๆ แล้วทำตกไว้ แล้วมีใครเดินผ่านมาเห็น เก็บขึ้นมาวางไว้บนม้านั่งให้เรียบร้อย จะได้ไม่มีใครเดินมาเหยียบ?

ไม่มีทางรู้เลยว่าเกิดอะไรขึ้น

แต่สิ่งหนึ่งที่รู้แน่ ๆ คือ…

แว่นอยู่ตรงนั้นมา 3 วันเต็ม ๆ และไม่มีใครเอาไป

นี่แหละค่ะ สิ่งเล็ก ๆ ที่ทำให้รู้สึกว่า
การได้อยู่ในประเทศที่ผู้คนให้ความสำคัญกับ ความซื่อสัตย์และการเคารพของของคนอื่น มันดีอย่างนี้นี่เอง

เราอาจอ่านเจอว่าฟินแลนด์เป็นหนึ่งในประเทศที่มีระดับความไว้เนื้อเชื่อใจและความซื่อสัตย์สูง
แต่การได้มาเจอกับตัวเองจริง ๆ มันคนละความรู้สึกเลย

ของบางอย่างอาจมีราคาไม่กี่สิบหรือไม่กี่ร้อยยูโร
แต่การที่เจ้าของได้ของกลับคืนมาโดยไม่ต้องทำอะไรเลย…

มันทำให้เราเชื่อในความดีของคนมากขึ้นอีกนิด ❤️

ขอบคุณฟินแลนด์ 🇫🇮
ที่ไม่ได้สอนเราแค่เรื่องระบบการศึกษา ธรรมชาติ หรือคุณภาพชีวิต

แต่ยังสอนผ่านเรื่องเล็ก ๆ ในชีวิตประจำวันว่า…

บนโลกใบนี้ คนดียังมีอยู่เยอะมากจริง ๆ 🌍❤️

บางทีการเดินทางไม่ได้ทำให้เราเห็นแค่ “โลกกว้างขึ้น”
แต่มันทำให้เรา มองโลกในแง่ดีขึ้นด้วย

👓 My glasses were missing for 3 days… in Finland!

I searched the house.
I searched my bags.
I searched everywhere I could think of.

Nothing.

Then today, I casually walked past a bench in the park near our home…

WAIT… 😳
IS THAT MY GLASSES?!

😂😂😂

I started trying to remember…

Maybe I had been sitting there working and simply forgot them?

Or perhaps I dropped them, and someone found them, picked them up and placed them safely on the bench so nobody would step on them?

I’ll never know.

But one thing I do know:

They stayed there for THREE DAYS — and nobody took them.

This is one of those small moments that makes you appreciate living in a society where honesty and respect for other people's belongings really matter.

You can read about Finland being a country with high levels of trust and social integrity.

But experiencing it yourself?

That feels completely different. ❤️

Thank you, Finland 🇫🇮
Not only for teaching me about education, nature and quality of life…

but also, through something as simple as a pair of forgotten glasses, reminding me that…

there are still so many good people in this world. 🌍❤️

Maybe travelling isn't only about seeing more of the world.

Sometimes, it makes you believe in the world a little more, too.

🇫🇮 ฟินแลนด์ไม่ได้มีแค่ “จักรยาน” หรือ “รถราง” — แต่คือการทำให้ทุกอย่างอยู่ร่วมกันได้

ถ้ามองภาพนี้ดี ๆ จะเห็นว่าบนถนนเส้นเดียวกัน มีทั้ง รถราง 🚋 จักรยาน 🚲 คนเดินเท้า และรถยนต์ — และทุกอย่างถูกออกแบบให้ใช้พื้นที่เมืองร่วมกันได้อย่างเป็นระบบ

สิ่งหนึ่งที่เราชอบมากเวลาอยู่ฟินแลนด์ คือ จักรยานไม่ได้เป็นแค่กิจกรรมยามว่าง แต่เป็นพาหนะในชีวิตประจำวันจริง ๆ

คนฟินน์ปั่นจักรยานไปทำงาน ไปเรียน ไปซื้อของ ไปสถานีรถไฟ หรือไปทำธุระต่าง ๆ เป็นเรื่องปกติมาก และที่สำคัญคือเมืองไม่ได้คาดหวังให้นักปั่น “เอาตัวรอดเอง” บนถนน 🚲

มี เลนจักรยานที่ออกแบบไว้จริง ๆ มีทางแยก จุดข้าม และพื้นที่ที่พยายามแยกคนเดินกับจักรยานออกจากรถยนต์ให้ชัดเจน

ขณะเดียวกัน รถรางก็เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของระบบขนส่งสาธารณะอย่างจริงจัง ไม่ได้มีไว้เพื่อการท่องเที่ยวเท่านั้น แต่ใช้เดินทางในชีวิตประจำวันร่วมกับรถไฟ รถบัส และระบบขนส่งอื่น ๆ 🚋🚌🚆

นี่คือสิ่งที่เรียกว่า integrated mobility — ไม่ใช่การเลือกว่าจะสร้าง “เมืองของรถยนต์” หรือ “เมืองของจักรยาน” แต่เป็นการออกแบบเมืองให้ หลายรูปแบบการเดินทางสามารถทำงานร่วมกันได้

และบางทีภาพที่ดูธรรมดามาก ๆ แบบนี้แหละ
กลับเป็นบทเรียนด้านการออกแบบเมืองที่น่าสนใจมาก

เพราะเป้าหมายไม่ใช่แค่ “เดินทางได้”
แต่คือ ทุกคนควรเดินทางได้อย่างปลอดภัย สะดวก และเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของเมืองเดียวกัน 🇫🇮💙

🇬🇧 Finland isn’t just about bikes or trams — it’s about making different ways of moving work together.

Look closely at this picture and you’ll see a tram 🚋, a cyclist 🚲, pedestrians, and cars — all sharing the same urban space.

One thing we really appreciate about Finland is that cycling is not simply a leisure activity. It is a genuine part of everyday life.

Finns cycle to work, to school, to the shops, to train stations, and simply to get around. And importantly, the city doesn’t just expect cyclists to “figure it out” among cars.

There are proper cycling lanes and infrastructure, with designated routes, crossings, and spaces designed to make cycling safer and more predictable.

At the same time, trams are a real part of everyday public transportation — not just something for tourists. They work alongside buses, trains and other forms of public transport. 🚋🚌🚆

This is what integrated mobility can look like: rather than designing a city around just one mode of transportation, different ways of moving are designed to work together.

And sometimes, an ordinary street scene like this can teach us a lot about urban design.

Because the goal isn't simply to make it possible to get from A to B.

It is to create a city where different people can move safely, comfortably and independently — and where all these ways of travelling belong to the same city. 🇫🇮💙

🇫🇮 ฝนตก…แล้วไง? ชีวิตในฟินแลนด์ก็ไปต่อ ☔️🌲

สิ่งหนึ่งที่เราสังเกตได้ชัดมากเวลาอยู่ฟินแลนด์คือ คนที่นี่ไม่ได้มอง “ฝนตก” เป็นเหตุผลที่จะหยุดใช้ชีวิต

ฝนตกก็ไปโรงเรียน
ฝนตกก็ไปทำงาน
ฝนตกก็พาลูกออกมาเล่น
และฝนตก…ก็ยังมาเที่ยวสวนสัตว์ได้ 😆

อย่างวันนี้ที่ Helsinki Zoo (Korkeasaari) ฝนตกลงมาเรื่อย ๆ แต่เด็ก ๆ ก็ยังสนุกกันเต็มที่ เพราะหลักการง่าย ๆ ของคนฟินน์คือ

> There’s no bad weather, only bad clothing.
ไม่มีอากาศที่แย่ มีแต่การแต่งตัวไม่เหมาะกับอากาศ 😄

เสื้อกันฝน รองเท้าที่กันน้ำได้ และเสื้อผ้าที่ใส่เป็น layer — แค่นี้ฝนก็กลายเป็นเพียง “สภาพอากาศ” ไม่ใช่ “อุปสรรค”

ที่น่ารักคือ แม้แต่สวนสัตว์ก็เตรียมเสื้อกันฝนไว้ให้ผู้มาเที่ยว ใครมาแบบไม่ได้เตรียมตัว ก็ยังสามารถออกไปสนุกกับสวนสัตว์ท่ามกลางสายฝนได้

เราไม่สามารถควบคุมอากาศได้
แต่เราควบคุมได้ว่าเราจะเตรียมตัวรับมันอย่างไร 🌧️💚

บางทีการใช้ชีวิตแบบฟินน์จึงไม่ใช่การรอให้ทุกอย่าง “perfect”
แต่คือการรู้ว่า วันนี้อากาศเป็นแบบไหน แล้วก็ออกไปใช้ชีวิตกับมันให้ดีที่สุด

🇬🇧 Rain? So what? ☔️🇫🇮

One thing we’ve really noticed about life in Finland is that rain is rarely considered a reason to stop living.

It rains — people still go to school.
It rains — people still go to work.
It rains — families still go outside.
And yes… it rains, and people still visit the zoo! 😆

Today at Helsinki Zoo (Korkeasaari), it was raining steadily, but the kids were still out enjoying themselves.

The Finnish philosophy is simple:

> “There’s no bad weather, only bad clothing.”

A proper rain jacket, waterproof shoes and good layers can make a huge difference.

And we love that even the zoo is prepared for rainy days, with rain jackets available for visitors. So even if you didn’t come fully prepared, the rain doesn’t have to stop the adventure.

Perhaps this is one of those little lessons Finland teaches you without ever putting it on a classroom board:

We can’t control the weather.
But we can choose how prepared we are for it. 🌧️💚

Life doesn’t have to wait for perfect weather.

Just put on the right clothes… and keep going. 🇫🇮

🇫🇮 HAPPY ESPOO DAY! 💙

วันนี้คือ Espoo Day — วันของเมือง Espoo!

แต่ความเจ๋งของวันนี้คือ
มันไม่ใช่เทศกาลที่มีเวทีใหญ่แค่จุดเดียว

ทั้งเมืองออกมามีชีวิต! 🎉

ตั้งแต่ปี 1992
Espoo Day กลายเป็นวันเฉลิมฉลองเมืองที่ชวนคนในชุมชนออกมาร่วมกันจัดกิจกรรม

และเลือกช่วงปลายเดือนสิงหาคม เพราะวันที่ 27 สิงหาคม ค.ศ. 1556 เป็นวันที่มีการลงนามเอกสารเกี่ยวกับ Espoo Manor ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในจุดสำคัญของประวัติศาสตร์เมือง

วันนี้เลยกลายเป็นวันที่คน Espoo ได้ออกมาบอกว่า

“นี่คือเมืองของเรา” 💙

และตอนนี้…เราเดินมาแถวบ้านก็เจอแล้ว 😆

มีทั้ง
🌭 ไส้กรอกย่างหอม ๆ
🥔 ของกินพื้นเมือง
🍄 สอนดูเห็ด เพราะฤดูเก็บเห็ดกำลังจะเริ่มแล้ว!
🎨 ซุ้มศิลปะสำหรับเด็กหลายซุ้ม
🧑‍🎨 กิจกรรมให้เด็ก ๆ ได้ลงมือทำเอง
🌲 และกิจกรรมที่พาเราไปรู้จักธรรมชาติแบบฟินแลนด์มากขึ้น

ชอบตรงนี้มาก

เพราะมันไม่ได้รู้สึกเหมือน “มาเที่ยวงาน”

แต่เหมือน เดินออกจากบ้านมาแล้วเจอชุมชนทั้งชุมชนกำลังฉลองเมืองของตัวเอง 🥰

และนี่แหละเสน่ห์ของ Espoo

เมืองที่มีทั้ง
🌲 ป่า
🌊 ทะเล
🏙️ เมือง
🎓 มหาวิทยาลัย
💡 เทคโนโลยี
และที่สำคัญคือ ชุมชนที่ยังใกล้ชิดกับธรรมชาติ

วันนี้เลยไม่ใช่แค่ Espoo Day

แต่เป็นวันที่เราได้เห็นว่า
“การเป็นเมือง” ในแบบฟินแลนด์ มันหน้าตาเป็นยังไง 🇫🇮💙

Today is Espoo Day — a celebration of the city!

But what makes it special?

It’s not just one big festival in one place.

The whole city comes alive. 🎉

Espoo Day officially started in 1992, bringing local communities together to celebrate the city.

And today, you can literally just walk out of your neighbourhood and find something happening.

We just did. 😆

🌭 Grilled sausages
🥔 Local Finnish food
🍄 Mushroom-spotting activities, just in time for the beginning of mushroom-picking season
🎨 Children’s art stations
🧑‍🎨 Hands-on activities for kids
🌲 And lots of ways to connect with Finnish nature

And honestly, that’s what I love about it.

It doesn’t really feel like
“going to a festival.”

It feels more like…

you walk out of your home, and your whole neighbourhood is celebrating together. 🥰

That’s Espoo.

A city with forests 🌲
the sea 🌊
urban life 🏙️
universities 🎓
technology 💡

…and a strong connection to its local communities and nature.

Happy Espoo Day! 🇫🇮💙

just go for a walk.

🐐💤 Meet Mr. Clutterbuck — the sleepwalking goat from Takui-Takui Town!

If you grew up with the Thai editions of Mauri Kunnas, you may already know this character.

Herra Hakkarainen, known as Mr. Clutterbuck in English, is the famous sleepwalking goat who goes on all sorts of adventures while fast asleep — completely unaware of what he is doing. 😴

He is one of the recurring characters in Mauri Kunnas’s books and a familiar character to generations of Finnish children.

There is also a lovely Thai connection: Mauri Kunnas’s books have been translated into Thai and published by Barefoot Banana.

Fey has known and loved Mr. Clutterbuck since she was little in Thailand. And we have an extra-special connection — Mauri Kunnas once invited us to his home and gave Fey some of the character dolls. ❤️

So today, she got to meet the giant Mr. Clutterbuck at the Mauri Kunnas Exhibition at EMMA in Espoo.

And apparently…

Mr. Clutterbuck = Sleepwalker 🐐💤
Fey = actually asleep 😂

If you're visiting Espoo with children, this exhibition is definitely worth adding to your list.

It is not simply an exhibition to look at — it is interactive, with spaces where children can play, explore and step into the imaginative world of Mauri Kunnas, surrounded by characters, scenes and stories from his books.

Especially if your children already know his books, seeing the characters come to life in a physical space makes the visit even more fun.
