- This morning, the flood situation is dramatically better. Of course, this happened a week ago too and it was a false horizon because the dams upstream sent down more water and the flood went up again, worse than ever… but we’ll have to see what happens

As the Ping River continues to overflow it’s banks for a second week, flooding worsens in the city of Chiang Mai. Thailand's premier northern city is home to 115,000 people including many expats. As flooding spreads to greater and greater areas of the metropolitan area, thousands are being made homeless and tourists are fleeing the city in droves.

The flood waters in Chiang Mai continued to rise today, swallowing areas of the city and suburbs that had previously been dry. The flooding in our village, south of the city near Hang D**g, is rising and although we’re extremely fortunate to be dry still, we live in a single-story bungalow, so… I’m gonna put my guitar on a high shelf tonight before I pass out. Stay safe guys. I know a lot of you are already engulfed in this crisis and I love the optimism and confidence I see everywhere as I’m going about my daily business here in town. This is a proud, resilient community and I’m extremely happy that I’m living here during this time of adversity and inspiration. Thank you.
