I bring practical travel tips and inso to your feed.
👉🏻 Don’t get a taxi from outside of your hotel, and don’t take one from the people who approach you. You’ll get ripped off ten fold.
Instead, download InDrive - it’s Egyptian equivalent of Uber with local prices. It has automatic language translation, and you can even share pictures so easier to find your driver.
Remember: you can only pay cash in taxis.
👉🏻 This BS that locals prefer you to pay in US dollars is nonsense. Dollar is in circulation because Russian cards don’t work in Egypt. You will not be able to exchange currencies here easily, so stick to card payment or take cash in Egyptian pound.
Make sure you spend it. Otherwise the exchange rate is not great.
Cash is still king here, but most places do take card payments - always stick to paying in local currency to save your money on fees .
PRO tip:
My ultimate travel bank is . You get access to 52 global currencies. You can even create multiple accounts in local currencies with cheap transfer fees. Super handy if you travel a lot and have family abroad.
E-sim made a huge difference. I found unlimited data deal for 12 days for only £26 from .app - that’s around £50 cheaper than other providers. Definitely using them again. Great value and customer support. Also for safety….I’m never travelling to a country after what happened in Cape Town.
At some point you might get a bad stomach. It comes in different forms. My mom took probiotics which didn’t really do anything - I stuck with my digestive enzymes that help break down gluten, diary and fats, and took it with active charcoal. It worked great!
