Last night we were eating below my friend’s hotel and saw a Thai girl go upstairs. Didn’t think much of it.

Later we went up to get ready, and when we were leaving we heard a girl next door yelling, “Help me, I’m freelance.”

The door opened and it was the same girl. She was arguing with a guy. He said, “You were no good.” She said, “You need to pay me 1,000.”

Got me wondering.
If someone says the service was bad, do they still have to pay?

What do you think the guy looked like?

Before Dating in Thailand: Red Flags to Pay Attention To 🇹🇭

A lot of guys land in Thailand, meet a girl, and think it’s going to be a fairy tale. Most of the time when it goes wrong, the warning signs were there from day one — they just didn’t want to see them.

Here are the ones you should actually pay attention to.

1) She’s still deep in the bar scene
If you met her in a bar and she’s still there every night, that’s not “just visiting friends.” If you’re sending money so she “doesn’t have to work” but she’s still around that environment, you’re funding the lifestyle — not changing it.

2) Money comes up early
Small emergency. Sick buffalo. Phone broke. Family issue. It usually starts minor. The moment you send money, it sets the tone. Paying for dates is normal. Sending cash early isn’t.

3) Constant gold talk
Gold isn’t just sentimental here — it’s liquid cash. If every birthday or argument ends with “buy me gold,” that’s not romance. That’s strategy.

4) You’re expected to fund everything
Dates? Fine. But if it quickly turns into rent, bills, family support, and daily transfers, pause. Pull back and see what changes when the money slows down.

5) Property pressure
Land. A house. An “investment.” If it has to be in her name and you’re being rushed, stop immediately. This is one of the most common ways foreigners lose big money.

6) You’re hidden from her family
Family is huge in Thailand. If months go by and you’re never introduced, either she’s not serious — or there’s someone else you don’t know about.

7) Everything moves too fast
“I love you” after a week. Marriage talk after a month. Moving in immediately. Fast attachment can be about locking you in before questions start.

8) Phone secrecy
Always texting. Screen turned away. Steps outside to answer calls. Defensive over simple questions. That’s usually not random.

9) Vague about work or income
If you don’t really know what she does and the story keeps shifting, that’s a problem. Honest situations don’t need complicated explanations.

10) “I live with my brother”
Common story. Sometimes true. Sometimes not. If basic questions make her uncomfortable, trust that instinct.

11) Other “sponsors”
Some women keep multiple foreign guys sending monthly support. Each one believes he’s the only one. If she seems financially comfortable but doesn’t really work — someone else might be contributing.

12) Social media patterns
If her followers are packed with foreign men and she never posts you, it might not mean everything — but it might mean you’re not the only one.

13) Multiple phones
Work phone and personal phone can be normal. But it can also make it easy to separate lives. If the explanations don’t add up, pay attention.

None of these alone prove anything. But when you start seeing several at once, don’t ignore it.

Thailand isn’t the problem. Fantasy thinking is.

Move slow. Watch actions. Keep your money separate early on.

That alone will save most guys a lot of stress.

I came to Pattaya for the beaches.
And somehow ended up emotionally attached to a woman whose real name I will never know.

I was on Soi 6 for maybe 14 minutes. Still walking around like a tourist, smiling at everything, pretending I understood how this place works.

Then she smiled at me.

Not a normal smile.
The kind of smile that makes you forget your own name for a second.

She said something in Thai. I said “hello.”
She laughed like I’d just told the funniest joke ever.

That’s when I knew.
This was fate.

She didn’t speak English.
I don’t speak Thai.
But that didn’t matter because we had Google Translate and pure delusion on my side.

We sat there for hours.

I nodded at everything she said like I fully understood. She nodded at everything I said like I was a genius. At one point she held my hand and I’m pretty sure I started planning our future together.

I learned:
• her nickname is either Ploy, Toy, Joy, or maybe Boy
• she likes music
• she thinks I am “very hansum man”
• and Google Translate definitely told me she “love you long time” but the Wi-Fi was bad so I can’t be sure

She kept bringing me drinks. I kept paying for things I don’t remember ordering. Time stopped existing.

When I finally left, she waved at me like I was going off to war.

We had known each other for about 2 hours and 38 minutes.

I walked back to my hotel in silence, staring at the ground, thinking:

“I didn’t expect to find love on my first night in Pattaya.”

I still don’t know her real name.

But in my heart…

we had something.

Same street.
Different universe.

A few hours ago it looked like a sleepy back alley.
Now it looks like Times Square had a midlife crisis and moved to Thailand.

Neon everywhere. Music fighting music. Taxis trying to get through a crowd that has no intention of moving. People walking in like explorers… and walking out three hours later with a thousand-yard stare.

Soi 6 doesn’t slowly get busy.

It goes from 0 to what is happening in about 12 minutes.

If you know, you know.

Soi 6 at the most peaceful time of day… when it looks like a normal street and you briefly forget where you are.

Closed shutters. Quiet bars. A guy pushing a cart. Signs hanging everywhere with names that absolutely do not match the calm vibe you’re seeing.

This is the only place on earth where, at 10am, you can stand here and think:
“Wow. This seems like a nice, quiet little lane.”

Give it a few hours.

This street doesn’t wake up.
It activates.

Welcome to Soi 6.
