The arrival of spring in Istanbul has been marked by the blooming of 3,580,000 tulips planted across the city’s historic parks and groves, creating vibrant displays that are attracting both residents and tourists.
Tulip displays have been set up in key locations including Emirgan Grove, Gülhane Park, Sultanahmet Square, Göztepe 60th Year Park and Hıdiv Kasrı. Emirgan Grove, one of the city’s most popular destinations, has become a focal point for visitors, with colourful floral arrangements drawing large crowds enjoying the warmer weather.
The flowers are concentrated in four main areas — Emirgan Grove, Göztepe 60th Year Park, Gülhane Grove and Hıdiv Grove — where tulips, along with hyacinths and daffodils, create striking spring landscapes and popular photo opportunities.
Each year, millions of tulips transform Istanbul’s parks, gardens and public spaces into a colourful display, reflecting the flower’s deep cultural ties to the Ottoman era and Turkish heritage.
The annual Tulip Festival celebrating the season will take place on April 11–12, with a programme of activities and floral exhibitions planned across the main display locations. Visitors are expected to flock to the city’s green spaces to enjoy the seasonal celebrations and the vibrant spring atmosphere.
