"The priest fainted" may have the most interesting name among Turkish dishes. It refers to Imam Bayildi / Karniyarik in Turkish, a classic and much loved dish consisting of whole aubergine stuffed with minced meat, tomato, onion, pepper, etc.

The name is linked to a legend in which an Imam fainted over the delicious nature of the dish when his wife presented him it. So it not only has the most interesting name, it is also the most delicious among Turkish dishes😋

Imam bayildi is a must-try Turkish dish when in Istanbul!

Winter returns to Istanbul with snowfall❄️

A long-awaited snowfall has finally hit Istanbul. It blanketed both European and Asian sides of the Turkish metropolis 😍

For some experts, it is the worst since 1987. In some places the depth of snow has reached 70 centimeters (27.56 inches)!

The municipality said crews deliver soup and water to motorists in case of traffic snarls, while homeless people and stray animals are hosted at shelters. No matter how much we love snow flakes, let's not forget about people struggling with the weather and let's help as much as we can❣️

Turkish families are preparing themselves to welcome 2022 at home in front of the television, in a way known as the PTT-style.

You may wonder what PTT-style means. 🤔 PTT is referred to as a 1970s joke for “Pyjama, Terlik, Television” in Turkish, which means home celebrations in pajamas, slippers, and lying in front of a television. 😂 I guess after this no need to mention that we have a very good sense of humor!

Anyways, the start of the New Year is one of our favorite holidays. We welcome the new year with magnificent fireworks displays, a huge midnight feast for the family, basketfuls of fruits. We love filling our bags with nuts and cookies. 😋

We hope you have a great time with your loved ones today as we do. Cheers to new beginnings and may this new year take you to places you've never been before. 🥂

Wishing you & yours a Happy New Year! ✨

It’s no exaggeration to say that you could easily spend a month in this fascinating, beautiful, enormous city, and it would only make you want to explore it more. But if you have a limited time to visit Istanbul, then you have to do the basics like exploring Galata district!

Here are the most magnificent sights to see and beautiful places to visit around Galata Tower.

Why do Turks love cats so much and why are cats treated so well in Turkey?

There is even a famous saying which is "If you have killed a cat, you need to establish a mosque to be forgiven by God.” Yes I know, sounds weird.🤷🏻‍♀️

There are some legends about why do we care about cats so much.

One of the most well-known reasons is the Prophet Muhammad's love of cats. Here is one of the most famous stories.

One day he heard the call to pray so he needed his garment but his cat was sleeping on his garment. He didn't want to disturb her and instead of waking her up, he cut the sleeve of his garment off🥲

No matter what, we Turkish people love cats and without the cat, Istanbul would lose a part of its soul💔

The small Kariye District in Edirnekapı is one of Istanbul's greatest treasures. It is possible to feel the Byzantine city Istanbul and the Ottoman city Istanbul at the same time.

The Chora Museum (former Chora Monastery and Church, now the Chora Mosque) located in the area is one of the most beautiful mosaic museums in the world although it is temporarily closed now😢 but the district is so beautiful and there are typical old Istanbul houses which surround the small square in the center, remind of the city's Ottoman past. So it is still worth to visit it☺️

As a side tip😉, you should go to the Ásitáne Restaurant, famous for its classic Turkish dishes, right next to the museum.

Colorful houses, historical mansions, cobblestone paved streets, friendly shopkeepers, pleasent cafes,...

Kuzguncuk is very different from the known districts of Istanbul. Firstly, it does not share in the chaos of Istanbul. It has a unique and distinct atmosphere. You will feel like you are in a fairy tale while wandering around.

There are many things to discover in this lovely neighborhood.

✔️ For a delicious Turkish breakfast, I would highly recommend Habitat Kitchen. 🤌

✔️ Next to this cafe, there is a Kuzguncuk Bostani (garden) where you can find fresh fruits and vegetables from locals which are available for sale in a good price!🤏

✔️ Right across the street there is a cute chocolatier called Cikolataci Aziz Bey where you can make a mini chocolate platter 😋and drink a Turkish coffee☕

It will definitely worth your time!
