Today, 20th May, 520 meaning “I love you” in Chinese. We are so proud of and congratulate 𝙏𝙖𝙞𝙬𝙖𝙣 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙪𝙚 on winning the 2026 International Booker Prize – for the love to Taiwanese food, languages, diversity, and adventure!
This is a magical collaboration between Taiwanese author, Yáng Shuāng-zǐ (楊雙子), and Taiwanese-American translator Lin King (金翎), and Taiwan Travelogue is the first novel translated from Taiwanese Mandarin to receive the prize.
The novel weaves together food, travel, train journeys, colonial history, multiculturalism, identity, and rich culinary memories, offering readers a deeply layered portrait of Taiwan and its history.
“I really should come visit you, while it still exists,” translator Lin King shared, is something her English-speaking friends often say to her about Taiwan.
We'd like to tell all international travelers, this island continues to offer a unique and safe travel experience shaped by its warmth, diversity, and some of the kindest, most welcoming people in the world.
Come visit, it's right here!
