Day 1: Arrival at JRO
Pick-up at Kilimanjaro Airport. A member of our team will be waiting at the airport exit
with a sign indicating the passenger's name, and transfer to the Lodge (1 hour).
- Olerai Lodge (HB)
Day 2: Tarangire National Park
Pick-up from the hotel at 8:30 am and transfer to Tarangire National Park (2 hours)
with a picnic lunch for a safari into the afternoon. One of Tanzania's most unknown
areas, but teeming with wildlife, is Tarangire National Park. It's a river, always running,
that offers refuge during the dry season to vast herds of elephants, buffalo, oryx, and
various antelopes, which make up a wonderful menu for predators such as lions,
leopards, and other felines. Tree-climbing pythons, mongooses, and many other animals
make this park an undiscovered gem. Around 4:00 PM, you should head to Karatu (2
hours), the town immediately before Ngorongoro.
- Endoro Lodge
Day 3: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, around 7:00 am, transfer to the Serengeti (3 hours) via the Ngorongoro
Crater. Stop at the viewpoint to admire the views of the interior of the crater. After
traveling a few kilometres along the top of the crater, you will begin to see the vast
plains of the Serengeti. The rest of the day will be spent on safari in the Serengeti. There
is no better description than its name, which in the Maasai language means "Boundless
Plain." Serengeti National Park is the most famous and oldest in Tanzania. Its ecosystem
extends beyond its borders, including other areas dedicated to wildlife, such as the
Ngorongoro Conservation Area or the Maasai Mara in Kenya. Its fame is largely due to
the fact that each year it hosts the Great Migration, where more than a million
wildebeest, braving dangers and fighting for survival, undertake a long journey in search
of fresh pastures. Then transfer to the lodge for dinner and overnight
- Serengeti Central Lodge
Optional activity not included (USD 610 pp): This morning begins with an activity that
will open your eyes once again. At 5:30 a.m., you will be picked up and taken to the
takeoff point where you will begin a balloon safari to watch the sunrise over the
savannah. At the end of the ride, you will enjoy breakfast in the middle of the
wilderness. At the end of the day, you will go to the lodge for dinner and overnight. It is
located in the heart of the Serengeti, facing an abundance of wildlife.
Day 4: Serengeti National Park
A full-day safari in the Serengeti that you can organize to your liking. We recommend
starting the day early in the morning when the animals are most active. Then, at midday
return to the lodge for a rest and lunch, then resume the safari in the late hours of the
day, when the light is more beautiful and the savannah is busier.
- Serengeti Central Lodge
Day 5: Serengeti – Ngorongoro:
Ideally, this day should begin as early as possible and depart around 6:30 a.m. for
Ngorongoro (2:30 a.m.) to make the most of your time in the crater. Early in the
morning, we descend into the crater and embark on a full-day safari. The Ngorongoro
Conservation Area houses the crater from which it takes its name. This volcanic crater
was formed about 2 million years ago when it collapsed, leaving a large cirque about 20
km in diameter. Over time, its surface, devoid of life at the time, has been transformed
into a veritable Garden of Eden for its inhabitants. Where lava once boiled, today, an
immense plain of green meadows stretches out, surrounded by the steep walls of the
volcano. Lakes and extensive grasslands inside the crater and lush tropical rainforest on
its walls meet the necessary conditions to house and preserve a large number of
animals. At the end of the day, you will leave the crater to return to the lodge for dinner.
- Endoro Lodge
Day 6: Karatu – Arusha – Zanzibar: A relaxing morning at the lodge. At 9:00 a.m., you
will head to Arusha (3 hours) to catch your flight to Zanzibar, departing at 3:00 p.m.
Before heading to the airport, you will stop by the African Art Gallery (Heritage Cultural
Centre), where you can admire the wonderful collection of pieces from all over the
continent, including both contemporary and antique works. Around 1:30 p.m., you will
continue to the airport. Pickup at Zanzibar airport and transfer to the hotel (1.15 hours,
50 km).
The Zanzibar archipelago, one of the largest trading centres in East Africa, has been for
many centuries a crossroads of cultures, a fusion of African, Indian, and Arab influences,
and, of course, a strategic point for the slave trade. Peace and tranquillity reign in this
land, whose vital rhythm is marked by monsoon winds and lunar cycles. In Zanzibar,
travellers will enjoy wonderful beaches of fine white sand and turquoise waters,
surrounded by verdant palm groves and lush vegetation.
