At Walk with Petty, we celebrate one of nature’s most incredible super-plants: The Banana Plant! 🍌 Nothing goes to waste—every single part, from root to leaf, sustains our community, protects our environment, and creates amazing handcrafted products!
Here is the complete journey from the farm to sustainable living:
🌱 STAGE 1: PLANTING & NURTURING • Selection: Planting healthy suckers in rich, organic soil. • Care: Regular irrigation, weeding, and natural composting to yield strong stems and rich fruits. • Harvesting: Gathering fruits, leaves, and dried bark while keeping the ecosystem balanced.
🏠 STAGE 2: ECO-FRIENDLY CRAFTS & HOME PRODUCTS(Turning plant fibers into daily essentials!)
• Roof Thatching
Dried banana bark and fronds are woven together to create cool, shaded, rain-resistant natural roofs for houses and gazebos.
• Table Mats : Rustic, handwoven table mats that add a warm, natural aesthetic to dining spaces.
• Handwoven Baskets: Strong, durable baskets made from stem fibers for storage, shopping, or home decor. • Natural Ropes (Kamba): Twisted banana stem fibers made into strong, multi-purpose eco-ropes.
• Hats & Wall Art: Stylish sun hats and handcrafted wall decorations celebrating local cultural heritage.

🍌 STAGE 3: CULINARY DELIGHTS & DRINKS
• Green Bananas (Matoke): Delicious, nutrient-rich local staple meals.
• Ripe Bananas: Sweet, natural energizing fruits.
• Banana Chips & Flour: Crispy snacks and gluten-free flour for baking and porridge.
• Traditional Drinks: Local banana beer (Mbege), organic banana wine, and fresh natural juices.

🍃 STAGE 4: NATURAL PACKAGING & SERVING
• Biodegradable Plates & Wraps: Fresh banana leaves serve as natural plates and steaming wraps that lock in rich flavors without plastic waste!
♻️ STAGE 5: CIRCULAR ECONOMY & ZERO WASTE
• Organic Compost: Excess stems and leaves decompose into fertile soil nourishers.
• Animal Feed: Fresh leaves and pseudostems provide hydration and nutrients for livestock.

🌍 Drops of Life: The Daily Life, Culture, and Resilience of the Maasai Community
Every single day, the Maasai community faces a long and arduous journey in search of clean and safe water. These videos show the raw reality of their daily lives—mothers, youth, and even children gathering at water sources, while their faithful companions, donkeys, carry the heavy burden of water jerricans to sustain their families.

This is not just a reflection of their enduring culture, but a powerful reminder of the critical water challenges that many marginalized communities face. To them, the donkey is not merely a working animal; it is a lifesaver and a vital part of their existence.

As Walk with Petty Organization, we believe that every community deserves access to quality and sustainable services. Seeing the dedication and resilience of this community deeply inspires us to continue walking hand-in-hand with them, listening to their needs, and channeling our efforts into solving these challenges to ease their daily struggles and bring renewed hope.

The journey is long, but together, we can drive positive change! 🤝💙
