Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park – Mto wa Mbu
Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from Arusha, followed by a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, approximately 2–3 hours away. This park is particularly known for its large concentrations of elephants, often seen gathering along the Tarangire River, especially during the dry season. The landscape is distinct, dominated by ancient baobab trees and open savannah.
You will enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch inside the park. Wildlife sightings typically include elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and various antelope species. Predators such as lions and leopards may also be spotted.
In the late afternoon, you will exit the park and drive to Mto wa Mbu for relaxation.
Overnight: Ngare Lodge
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Day 2: Mto wa Mbu – Ngorongoro Highlands – Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, you will depart for Serengeti National Park, traveling through the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands. This journey is not just a transfer—it is a game drive in itself, offering views of Maasai villages, rolling hills, and wildlife along the way.
As you descend into the Serengeti plains, the landscape opens dramatically into vast grasslands stretching as far as the eye can see. You will enjoy an afternoon game drive en route to your camp. The Serengeti is renowned for its high density of predators including lions, cheetahs, and hyenas, as well as large herds of herbivores.
Overnight: Tukaone Tented Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 3: Full Day Serengeti National Park
This day is dedicated entirely to exploring the Serengeti. You will have flexibility to either do a full-day game drive with picnic lunch or split the day into morning and afternoon drives.
The Serengeti ecosystem supports one of the most impressive concentrations of wildlife in Africa. Depending on the season, you may witness part of the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebras move in search of fresh grazing. Even outside migration periods, resident wildlife ensures excellent game viewing year-round.
Expect close encounters with lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and possibly elusive species such as leopards.
Overnight: Tukaone Tented Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 4: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Karatu
After breakfast, you will enjoy a final morning game drive in the Serengeti before beginning your journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
As you leave the plains, the terrain gradually changes into highland forests and cooler climate zones. There may be opportunities to spot wildlife along the way, including elephants and buffalo in the forested areas.
You will arrive in Karatu in the afternoon, a quiet town located near the Ngorongoro Crater, ideal for rest before the next day’s early start.
Overnight: Karatu Villas Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu
Today you will visit the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most unique wildlife habitats on Earth. After an early breakfast, you will descend approximately 600 meters into the crater for a half-day game drive.
The crater floor hosts an extraordinary density of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, and a good chance of spotting the endangered black rhino. The permanent water sources support animals year-round, making wildlife viewing highly reliable.
You will enjoy a picnic lunch near a hippo pool before ascending back to Karatu in the afternoon.
Overnight: Karatu Villas Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha – Departure
After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a final game drive. This park is relatively small but ecologically diverse, featuring groundwater forests, open plains, and the soda lake itself.
Lake Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions, large troops of baboons, and birdlife including flamingos and pelicans. The lush forest environment provides a different safari experience compared to the open plains of Serengeti.
After the game drive and lunch, you will return to Arusha and be transferred to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar.
