Applying for a visa soon?
Save this before you submit your application.
Every visa story is different, but successful applications often come down to preparation.
✅Using your full legal name exactly as in your passport.
If the visa form name doesn’t match the passport exactly, it may cause confusion or delay - the documents “must match exactly”.
✅If you’re visiting a country via land or across multiple borders, check single vs multiple-entry rules.
If your plans include leaving and later returning to the same country under one trip, the wrong visa type (single-entry vs multiple) can cost you time and money.
✅Avoid leaving optional fields blank without notation.
In many application forms, if a field doesn’t apply, you must write “N/A” rather than leaving it blank. Leaving fields blank triggers flags for “incomplete application.
✅Being transparent about past visa refusals, overstays or immigration issues.
Previous visa violations or overstays in any country can affect your current application - if you try to hide them it can lead to refusal. If there was a past issue, explain it briefly in the form or in a cover letter, and show you’ve complied with consequences.
✅Being aware of new policy developments affecting Tanzanians.
For example - Those applying for short-term tourist/business visas to the United States, there is a new “visa bond” requirement (up to US$ 5,000-15,000) being introduced from October 2025. This kind of change means you need to factor in additional cost/risk.
✅Keeping track of vaccination or insurance requirements - even when they aren’t publicized.
Some countries like Senegal, Cameroon, Brazil to name a few; require a yellow-fever vaccine certificate (or if you are transiting via a high-risk country).
