The 9-day Northern Circuit Route is the longest and one of the most scenic and successful routes to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, offering excellent acclimatization and low traffic. Here’s a sample itinerary for a 9-day Northern Circuit climb:

Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m)

Drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate (approx. 3–4 hours).

After registration, drive further to Lemosho trailhead.

Short hike through the rainforest.

Distance: 6 km | Time: 3–4 hrs

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp (3,610m)

Trek through the forest and into the moorland.

Enter the Shira Plateau.

Distance: 8 km | Time: 5–6 hrs

Day 3: Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)

Hike across the plateau with views of the Western Breach.

Great acclimatization day.

Distance: 7 km | Time: 4–5 hrs

Day 4: Shira 2 to Moir Hut (4,200m)

Traverse the Shira Plateau and ascend steadily.

Optional acclimatization hike in the afternoon.

Distance: 10 km | Time: 5–7 hrs

Final descent through rainforest.

Receive summit certificates, drive back to Moshi.
