The Serengeti Migration - voted one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. Want to see the action?
Only nature decides, but based on previous migration activity the best time to book your safari and be in the thick of the action is:
December to February: Herds are concentrated in South Serengeti
and west Ngorongoro. Foals are born en-mass (lion breakfast).
March to April: Rutting season. Then the herds begin moving northward along the Western Corridor
May to June: The gruesome spectacle of the Grumeti river crossing (croc breakfast).
July to August: Herds continue north to cross the Mara river and into Kenya and the Maasai Mara for fresh grazing.
September the trickle back begins and by October through November large herds of wildebeast, zebra, gazelles return to the Serengeti spreading into Ngorongoro. Where the herds go the predators go. Lots to see and great photo opportunities.
