Tower House and Korongo House are charming private coastal houses for rent on the South Beach of Dar es Salaam, less than 30kms from the Kigamboni bridge and ferries. Each house has 4 double/twin ensuite bedrooms, large living area and fully equipped kitchen. The house is fully furnished and all towels and bedding are supplied. There is easy beach access for walk on a stunning secluded beach, as w

ell as a swimming pool on the property. Guests must bring all food and drinks for the duration of their stay. There is a housekeeper and personal cook to prepare all meals. We look forward to welcoming you at Ras Dege!

Evenings at Tower and Korongo Houses are best spent with a sundowner in hand. Either at the camp, or by the pool, on the veranda or sitting on the benches up on the cliffs.

Watching the sky melt into shades of gold and crimson. Below the cliffs, in the coves, if you look closely, you might spot turtles grazing on the seagrass.

Sails on the Horizon ⛵🌊✨

There’s an always a tinge of excitement when we spot the top of a jihazi mast appearing at the headland—as the dhow sails closer, its great canvas billows, catching the afternoon breeze. Will it tack towards Dar es Salaam, or will it carry on into the bay and drop anchor for the night?

There is something very majestic about watching Jihazi at sail. Wondering where they have come from and what cargo they are carrying. From Tower and Korongo Houses, the ocean tells a story—one of wind, waves, and journeys across the Indian Ocean. Come watch it unfold. 🌿🌞

A Tiger Cowrie being inspected by a small dog. Tiger Cowries (Cypraea tigris) are marine gastropod mollusks, a type of sea snail found in warm tropical waters, including the Indian Ocean along the Tanzanian coast.

They are also an ancient treasure. Once, these shells were more than just ocean gems; they were currency, traded across Africa and beyond, carrying stories of journeys, commerce, and culture.

Today, they are reminders of the ocean’s interesting animals, sparking curiosity—even from our four-legged beach explorers. 🐾💙

During the warmer season, the turtle nesting season begins. Female turtles come back to the very beaches where they were born to dig their nests and lay their eggs, continuing this ancient cycle of life. 🌊

We are incredibly fortunate to have Sea Sense, a local Tanzanian NGO, working alongside the community to protect sea turtles and their nests along the southern coast of Dar es Salaam. For over 20 years, they have been dedicated to monitoring and safeguarding nesting sites, significantly improving the hatching success rate through their close collaboration with local communities.

We can’t wait to see what the 2025 hatching season brings to the shores near Ras Dege! 🌍💚
