Before coming to Zanzibar, I always thought it was only about islands, crystal-clear blue water, Stone Town, and sunsets.
Until I discovered that from Zanzibar, you can take a flight and, in just about 30 minutes, fly directly into an African national park.
This is not the kind of rushed βchecklist-styleβ trip.
It starts at 5:00 AM, when the sky is still dark. You leave your hotel while the morning sea breeze is still a little cool outside the car window.
The airport is small, and the plane feels so close. Not long after takeoff, the blue coastline outside the window slowly disappears, replaced by vast shades of green and earthy yellow across the African mainland.
At that moment, you suddenly realize:
Zanzibar is not just an island destination.
It is actually so close to the real African wilderness.

05:00 AM β Hotel Pick-up
Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel in Zanzibar and transferred to the airport.
Yes, it is early.
But exactly because it is so early, it feels like a real ritual of setting off into the wild.
Flight to Mikumi
You will take a flight from Zanzibar to Mikumi National Park.
The flight takes around 30 minutes.
Compared with spending hours on the road, the flight option is much easier and more comfortable.
Full-day Safari in Mikumi
After arriving in Mikumi, a professional local driver-guide will meet you and take you straight into the national park in an open safari vehicle.
The moment you see your first giraffe, it feels completely different from watching a documentary.
It is not just βan animal.β
It feels more like the original owner of this land, allowing you to witness one quiet moment of its life.
Lunch Break
There will be a lunch break with soft drinks included, giving you some time to rest.
After lunch, the game drive continues in the afternoon.
Return to Zanzibar
After the safari in the late afternoon, you will take a flight back to Zanzibar.
A transfer will then take you back to your hotel.
And the best part:
Itβs only USD 450 per person.
