Not all Zanzibar tours are the same — and many travelers realize this too late.

As a local guide, I’ve seen people book very cheap tours… then end up rushed, overcrowded, or skipping important parts of the experience.

Before you book any tour, check this:

Is it private or shared?

How many stops are included?

How much time do you actually get at each place?

Are fees (boats, entrances) included?

Sometimes cheaper looks good at first… but it costs you the experience.

If you’re coming to Zanzibar, take a moment to choose wisely — it makes a big difference.

👉 Save this so you don’t forget.

SWIMMING IN ZANZIBAR : WHAT TOURISTS DON’T KNOW

Swimming in Zanzibar is beautiful — but not every beach is the same.

This surprises many travelers.

Some beaches (especially on the East coast) are affected by strong tides.

In the morning, the ocean can go very far out… and swimming becomes difficult.

If your main goal is swimming:

North (Nungwi, Kendwa) → best, tides are minimal

East coast → better for views, walking, and calm vibes

It’s not about good or bad — it depends on what you want.

Many people only understand this after they arrive.

👉 Save this if swimming is important for your trip

Is Zanzibar safe for solo travelers?

This is one of the most common questions I get from visitors planning their trip to Zanzibar.

As a local guide, I can tell you — Zanzibar is generally safe for solo travelers, including solo female travelers. The island is peaceful, welcoming, and full of unforgettable experiences.

However, like any destination, knowing a few local tips can make your trip even smoother and more enjoyable.

From walking through the historic streets of Stone Town to relaxing on beautiful beaches, I’ve shared honest advice based on real experiences guiding travelers every day.

Zanzibar is beautiful, but what makes it special is the people.

As a local guide, I always tell my guests:
If you respect the culture, the culture will welcome you.

These small manners can completely change how locals respond to you.

This is Zanzibar's public transport - we call Daladala 😀
It's cheap, local, and full of character!

🚘 No timetable
🗣️ Loud conductor calling destinations
🤝 Very friendly (sometimes very close friends 😅)

Daladala is perfect for short local rides and cultural experience - but not ideal if you're in a hurry, with luggage, or want air - conditioning.

Want to experience Zanzibar like a local, but also travel comfortably and safely when needed?

DM Me - I'll help you choose when to go local and when to go private

LOCAL GREETINGS & MANNERS

In Zanzibar, how we greet people really matters😚
A simple greeting can open smiles, kindness, and great conversations.

- Say "Jambo" (Hello) or "Habari" (How are you?)
- Shake hands gently and take a moment - don't rush
- Use your right hand when giving or receiving things
- Dress modestly in towns and villages (especially Stone Town)

Locals appreciate visitors who respect the culture - and you'll feel more welcome everywhere you go

Did you know this before visiting Zanzibar? Yes or No?
