Seatown & the window seat ✨
For three relaxing nights in Lossiemouth, I got to experience life in my dream home; a fisherman’s cottage by the sea.
Seatown Cottage sits in the historic Seatown area, where you can find lots of charming cottages, wee lanes and brightly painted sheds.
Built in around 1850, the cottage hits a whole new level of character, comfort and cosy vibes. Being in Lossie during winter meant cold and bright days to explore, followed by dark, wet and windy nights to hunker down and coorie in.
The last in a row of cottages, Seatown Cottage is closest to the sea; a classic red phone box and the golden sands which line the River Lossie are within view just across the road.
Close by, the iconic old wooden bridge over to East Beach is permanently closed after falling into a dangerous state of disrepair; a new bridge is currently being built further round into the town centre and is due to be completed in April.
Wendy and her husband, who own four cottages on the Moray Coast, have given this special cottage all the love and tasteful decor it deserves; from the artwork and wooden furniture to the quality bedding and fully-kitted kitchen. They also provide me with a bottle of fizz and a breakfast pack with bacon, eggs and milk.
These were my favourite moments at Seatown Cottage:
☕️ Sitting in the bedroom window seat with a cup of tea, watching the onset of sunrise each morning.
🔥 Curling up on the couch with the log-effect fire on, capturing my thoughts and experiences from the day in the notes on my laptop.
🦐 Grazing on an incredible seafood platter from Deli-cious; Janice prepares the platters with fresh seafood caught by her husband in his fishing boat.
🪟 Finishing the day back in the window seat, watching smoke slip out of a neighbouring cottage’s chimney, then drifting off towards the sea and into the night.
🛁 Soaking in a hot bath with the Velux window open, listening to the wind howl through the town.
I felt truly at home from the moment I settled in; wet jacket hung up and boots behind the front door.
I’m already planning a longer stay later in the year so that I can fully switch-off, no work required.
Then, I’ll just need to manifest a similar cottage of my own 💙

A soft spot for Lossie ✨
Lossiemouth is my perfect match. This windswept coastal town captures so many of the things I love about my adventures in Scotland.
Solo exploring, long journeys on public transport, friendly locals, cute cottages by the sea, beach walks, getting cosy by the fire, lighthouses, fresh seafood, sweet treats, and eyes on the sky for sunrise and Typhoon jets.
When I love a place so much, it can make it harder for me to put it into words, but I've poured my heart into writing a detailed blog post, packed with my top tips and favourite things to do in Lossiemouth, plus all the practical info you need to plan your own trip.
