The ridiculously pretty coast surrounding arty St Ives grows more compelling each year. By Easter, Three Mile Beach’s colour-popping collection of self-contained beach houses is set to open among the grasses and dunes of St Ives Bay’s longest stretch of sand, at Gwithian. They’ve been created by Audley Travel founder Craig Burkinshaw, and he’s given them a feeling of nostalgic summer-holiday fun, albeit with a sauna and hot tub and private chefs available to hire.

The plan is to champion local suppliers whatever the season, which is a simple task in a land so proud of its culinary prowess. Nearby, Trevaskis Farm offers everything from home-reared British Lop pork to pick-your-own fruit and veg.

Bath got its name because that’s what it was when it was founded by the Romans in 60 AD, who built baths here because of the hot springs. It reached its popularity peak in the Georgian years when the wealthy flocked here for spas. Besides being famous for its waters, the city also is an excellent example of Georgian architecture. Brighton, on the Sussex coast, has been a popular beach resort since the mid-19th century. Much of its popularity is due to the proximity to London, making it popular with day trippers. In summer, the palace is visited by about 30,000 guests who take part in receptions in the royal garden, where there is a lake and waterfalls. The picture of natural nature is complemented by flamingo birds, whose peace is not disturbed even by royal helicopters circling over the garden. Many royal ceremonies begin from here, for example. State opening of parliamentary sessions in the fall or the Queen's birthday ceremony in June. The history of Tower Bridge, which should not be confused with neighboring London Bridge, is linked to the nearby Tower of London. In 1872, the English Parliament considered a bill to build a bridge over the Thames. Although the Commandant of the Tower was against this idea, Parliament decided that the city needed another bridge that would effectively harmonize with the architecture of the Tower of London. Tower Bridge, as it is today, owes its appearance to a decision of parliament.
