Hello, I’m Lara 🤍 If you’ve been wondering who’s been behind Women Tour Uganda’s social media - sharing photos, videos, and memories from the women who travel with us… it’s me!

I’m from New Zealand and travelled with Women Tour Uganda in February 2025 when I was 23 (I was Irene’s youngest guest!).

A few moments on my trip I’ll never forget:
• Seeing gorillas in Bwindi - impossible to put into words, truly one of the most incredible days!
• Being nicknamed “Baby Gonja” after falling completely in love with gonja (a savoury banana snack!) 🍌
•Travelling with three incredible women who became my “aunties” and made everything so much fun 🫶
• Dancing with children in Bwindi - I remember feeling so happy I couldn’t stop smiling. The culture in Uganda is something truly special.

I still think about arriving at the airport as a solo female traveller when Irene ran over to hug me. I felt so welcomed and genuinely cared for in that moment - it stayed with me for the whole trip ♥️

Irene has become one of my closest friends, and I will forever admire her kindness and thoughtfulness. She makes every single person feel seen and looked after (truly a guide like no other!).

It means a lot to be part of Women Tour Uganda and to share these stories 💕 If you’ve travelled with Women Tour Uganda (maybe a few years ago or more recently) and have photos or videos, please reach out to Irene so we can share them on our social media. Thank you ☺️

She doesn’t just guide the experience, she becomes part of it… and honestly, your Ugandan best friend by the end (just read the comments on any of our posts!) 🤍

Come join us on the next Women Tour Uganda adventure, we would love to have you 🇺🇬 video by Wendy from Aus.

Our 12-day May-June safari is in full swing and what an adventure it’s been so far!

From incredible wildlife sightings and beautiful scenery to plenty of laughs and new friendships, there have already been so many special moments along the way - and there’s still more to come (or as Irene often says: “You have no idea what’s coming”) 🦍

We’re also excited to welcome the amazing Rachael to our Women Tour Uganda family, who Irene is currently training to become one of our guides when tours require two safari vehicles. We’re so lucky to have her and know she’s going to be incredible!

A big thank you to Wendy and Jenny from Australia for sharing these beautiful photos from their journey so far.

P.S. Don’t miss the last photo 👀🐘 It’s a good reminder that in Uganda, wildlife can be a lot closer than you think!

Meet Irene once and it feels less like meeting a tour guide, and more like meeting a new best friend. It’s the kind of connection that makes it hard to say goodbye at the end of the trip.

She’s the kind of person who runs up at the airport and hugs you like there’s no tomorrow - which can mean the world when you’re arriving alone.

Women Tour Uganda was created for solo female travellers who want exploring Uganda to feel easy, safe, and genuinely enjoyable from the start.

Days might include walking to see the gorillas, exploring the Nile, chimp trekking, or cultural moments like dressing in a gomesi - but what people remember most is who they experienced it with. Irene is the reason it feels like that.

If you’ve travelled with Irene, please share a few words about your experience ♥️ 📸 Kate, Australia

Lake Mburo N.P is one of Uganda’s smallest national parks - but don’t let that fool you!

It’s incredibly rich in wildlife, with giraffes, zebras, impalas, elands and buffalo roaming freely across golden grasslands. Our guests love it for its calm, uncrowded feel and close connection to nature 🦓

Our guests stay at Kigambira Safari Lodge, which is a beautiful eco-lodge located inside the park. With incredible food, views across the savannah, and a touch of luxury, it’s a perfect place to spot wildlife right from your room (think hippos at night) or even by the pool (warthogs will definitely be there!) 🤍

Lake Mburo National Park is included on our 10, 12 & 14-day boutique safaris for solo women & we would love for you to join us on this incredible trip to see it for yourself 🌍

We understand some travellers may have questions following recent Ebola-related news in East Africa.

Women Tour Uganda is continuing to operate as normal, with all tours and itineraries running as planned.

The Uganda Tourism Board and Ministry of Health have confirmed that Uganda remains open and safe for tourism, with no local transmission currently reported. Health authorities continue to closely monitor the situation through established national systems.

For our guests, this means you can continue to plan and travel with confidence. Our team remains in close contact with trusted local partners and continues to follow all official guidance.

If you have any questions about upcoming tours or travel plans, please feel free to contact Irene directly - we’re always happy to chat 🤍

One by one… and then suddenly there were elephants everywhere!

Watching the babies stay close to the herd while crossing the road was one of those quiet safari moments that doesn’t fully translate through a screen.

Uganda really is magic 🤍

How many elephants can you count? 👀
