Meet the Mighty Lion – King of the Savannah!

At Amatsiko Tours, we believe every safari tells a story—and the lion’s story is one of majesty, power, and survival. Known as the “King of the Jungle,” the African lion is one of the most iconic animals you’ll encounter on our wildlife adventures across Uganda’s national parks.

📌 Fascinating Lion Facts:

A lion’s roar can be heard up to 8 km (5 miles) away!

Lions are the only big cats that live in social groups, called prides.

Male lions have majestic manes, which get darker as they grow older.

While males defend the territory, females do most of the hunting.

🎉 Fun Fact: Lions can spend up to 20 hours a day resting or sleeping. That’s the true king lifestyle!

Why We Love Lions at Amatsiko Tours: Lions represent strength and pride—not just in the wild, but in the spirit of conservation. On our safaris to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Murchison Falls, guests often spot tree-climbing lions, a rare and unique behavior mostly seen in Uganda and Tanzania!

Join us for an unforgettable journey into the wild, where every roar, paw print, and golden gaze connects you with the heart of Africa.

Did you know the Equator passes through Uganda?

One of the most iconic stops along the way to western Uganda is Kayabwe, located about 72 km from Kampala. It’s a must-see for travelers heading to destinations like Queen Elizabeth National Park or Lake Mburo.

At Kayabwe, visitors get the rare opportunity to stand on the equator line, take memorable photos, and experience fun science demonstrations that show the Coriolis effect — a unique way to see how the Earth's rotation influences water flow.

With Amatsiko Tours, Kayabwe is more than just a stopover — it’s a chance to stand in two hemispheres at once and celebrate the wonders of Uganda.

Celebrating International Museum Day with Amatsiko Tours – Kabale

Today, we proudly joined the world in celebrating International Museum Day right here in Kabale Municipality! As Amatsiko Tours, we were honored to participate in this incredible event, where we showcased our rich cultural heritage and the beauty of our local traditions.

The event was graced by none other than the Minister of Tourism and Uganda’s very own legend, Golola Moses, whose energy and presence added an unforgettable spark to the celebrations.

It was a fun-filled, educational, and inspiring day—filled with storytelling, cultural exhibitions, traditional music and dance, and meaningful exchanges with fellow tourism and heritage enthusiasts.

At Amatsiko Tours, we are committed to preserving and promoting our heritage, and today was a true reflection of that mission.

Thank you to everyone who visited our stall and shared in this vibrant celebration of identity, history, and pride!

Chimpanzees in Uganda have been observed using medicinal plants - in multiple ways - to treat open wounds and other injuries. University of Oxford scientists, working with a local team in the Budongo Forest, filmed and recorded incidents of the animals using plants for first aid, both on themselves and occasionally on each other. Their research builds on the discovery last year that chimps seek out and eat certain plants to self-medicate.
