That gorilla trek in Uganda feels closer than you think.

Fly into Kigali, hop the border at Cyanika or Katuna, and you’re on the road to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in about 4–8+ hours (border time included). It’s a long day, yeah. But it beats losing a full extra day starting farther away.

Here’s the part that saves you money and stress: we match your Bwindi sector (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, or Nkuringo) to the right route and the right overnight, so you’re not doing a pre-dawn “why are we still driving?” mission before briefing.

Amatsiko Tours is Kabale-based, and we run Kigali to Bwindi cross-border transfers, gorilla permits, and sector-matched stays with transparent, itemized quotes. No fuzzy bundles.

Boat Cruise on the Kazinga Channel, Queen Elizabeth National Park (Uganda)

A boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel is one of the most rewarding and immersive wildlife experiences in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This natural waterway connects Lake Edward and Lake George and is famous for having one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa.

As the boat glides gentlyly along the channel, the riverbanks come alive. Large schools of hippos surface and submerge in rhythm, their grunts echoing across the water. Crocodiles rest along the shores, elephants and buffaloes gather to drink, and countless bird species line the banks — from African fish eagles to kingfishers and herons. The diversity of wildlife seen in just a few hours is remarkable.

What makes the Kazinga Channel boat cruise special is the perspective it offers. Unlike game drives, you experience wildlife at eye level from the water, without engine noise or disturbance. It’s calm, close, and deeply immersive — ideal for photography and video, especially when capturing hippo pods interacting naturally in their habitat.

For our guests at Amatsiko Tours, the Kazinga Channel cruise is not just a highlight of the safari — it’s a moment to slow down, observe, and appreciate the richness of Uganda’s ecosystems. Experiences like this remind us why conservation and responsible tourism matter: these waterways sustain both wildlife and surrounding communities.
