Today we thought we’d see the canyon area and then move on to several other places… but the canyon completely took over the day, and we didn't regret it a bit.
We spent most of the day around Canyon Village stopping at Upper Falls View, Lookout Point, Artist Point, Inspiration Point, Glacier Boulder, and several overlooks along the loop. The waterfalls and canyon views were breathtaking, and we stopped constantly. There was one overlook with a ton of stairs that I decided against, so I waited above quietly and ended up spotting a mule deer come out of the woods grazing. 😊

Leaving Artist Point we ran into a huge traffic backup, which of course meant an animal...and it was another bear.

Every part of Yellowstone feels completely different from the last, and I wish we had weeks to see it all!

Thanking Jesus for the opportunity to see this beautiful part of His creation today. ❤️

Friday started bright and early with the perfect cheese omelet Quentin made before we headed out toward Lamar Valley. Right away we spotted our first bear of the trip, maybe a black bear or maybe a grizzly--no idea. We also saw moose, bison, pronghorn, elk near the road, and several coyotes chasing four deer across Lamar Valley...they didn't catch them.
Later we saw a black bear across the river… then watched it swim across to our side (our sign to get back in the car).
We stopped at the Petrified Tree, had lunch at the Mammoth General Store, and ended up eating with a couple who said Alabama is the only state they’ve never visited. 😂
After lunch we explored Mammoth Hot Springs and drove the Upper Terrace Loop, stopping at several places like Orange Spring Mound and Angel Terrace. At one point deer jumped right out in front of the car while we drove that loop.
Leaving Mammoth, we drove through more incredible scenery including Undine Falls, Sheepeater Cliffs, Obsidian Cliff, the fumaroles and steam around Roaring Mountain, Beryl Spring (my favorite spring today), and Gibbon Falls.
We fit in so much today!

As I’m typing this, getting close to bed and thinking back on this morning that somehow feels like days ago. We checked out of my now officially favorite hotel, Wyoming Inn of Jackson Hole , and walked outside to thick snow falling. The forecast said light rain. 😂

The snow hid some of the Tetons, but somehow made Yellowstone even more beautiful. We stopped at Oxbow Bend, and Jackson Lake Overlook was absolutely gorgeous. We drove through Lewis River Canyon, stopped at West Thumb Geyser Basin, passed the Continental Divide, saw Kepler Cascades, then made it to Old Faithful. We grabbed lunch at the cafe and spent time inside the Old Faithful Inn, which was incredible to see in person.

Not long after leaving, we started seeing bison. Biscuit Basin had one standing in the steam that looked unreal. Then we made our way to Grand Prismatic Spring before finally heading into West Yellowstone.

Somewhere throughout today we crossed through Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho all in one day. Now resting for an early day tomorrow!!

We didn’t have to wake up too early today, but we started our day at the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram. The ride takes you all the way up to 10,450 feet, and the views were incredible. The top wasn’t as cold as I expected, but every time the sun disappeared behind the clouds, the temperature changed fast.
We had waffles at Corbet’s Cabin, a tiny little spot at the top that basically just serves handheld waffles. 😊
Later we had lunch at Café Genevieve and then did an excellent audio tour through Grand Teton National Park. One of the coolest moments of the day happened when we noticed cars stopped along the road and realized a mama moose had just had a baby. We still hadn’t seen a moose yet, so getting to see both of them was amazing.
Tonight we finished our last full day in Jackson with the Bar T-5 covered wagon dinner show. We rode through the mountains in a covered wagon, had a big dutch oven meal, and ended the night with music. It was quite a fun experience!
Tomorrow we head to Yellowstone!

Long recap of the last couple days 😁: We landed yesterday in the most un-airport airport I’ve ever been to. It was small and somehow just blended into the nature around it.
We checked into the Wyoming Inn, which is exactly what I want from a Jackson Hole hotel — cozy, rustic, and beautiful. And somehow our first meal in Jackson ended up being Korean food. 😂 It was excellent, and the portions were huge.
This morning we did a Sunrise Wildlife Tour with Eco Tour Adventures, and I would highly recommend it. We rode around in a safari-style 4x4 and saw beavers, elk, pronghorn, bison, coyotes, bighorn sheep, and tons of birds. Such an incredible start to the trip.
Afterwards we walked around Town Square, had pizza at Hand Fire Pizza, and tried huckleberry ice cream from Moo's Gourmet Ice Cream.
We ended the day with dinner at Whistling Grizzly where I tried elk tenderloin for the first time and loved it. Then we drove out to Schwabacher Landing to watch the sunset and see the reflection of the Tetons in the water. Absolutely breathtaking.
