Fascinating lecture at St. Mary's Lyceum, Alexandria Virginia, on the first European settlement c. today's Williamsburg, Virginia, 37 years before Jamestown, by Spanish missionaries. Eight priests and aides of this Ajacan mission were massacred by Indians, whose leader incredibly had been brought to Spain and Mexico for years and converted to Catholicism. A punitive Spanish expedition hanged some of the killers. The leader, Don Luis, later a chieftain, may have much later befriended Pocahontas and John Smith.
