Exciting news!
Registration for the 2025-2026 season opens Sunday, July 20th!

Did you know that ice rates increased to $265 an hour this season at NLA? Our AHA Board is PROUD to announce that despite the $25 an hour increase we have been able to keep our rates the same for this season. We are thankful to our community supporters and grants we have been awarded that make this possible.

Beyond that, we are pleased to once again offer "Early Bird" pricing through August 31st at midnight on our website www.alpenahockey.org

All divisions can save $50 just by signing up early.

Please take advantage of this Early Bird discount. Use the saved cash for gas or a meal out while traveling with your skater this winter.

In full transparency, by signing up early it also helps the board gauge the amount of kids in each division which makes the process of making teams and scheduling ice much easier come September/ October. Truly a WIN-WIN scenario!

Again, this season families have the option to sell $200 worth of raffle tickets. This money is yours to keep, helping you recoup some of your registration fees. Once sold please place the ticket stubs into the wooden box on the counter at the rink labeled AHA raffle.

When: July 4, 2024.
Drop off at the fairgrounds 10:30am-10:45am.

Parade begins at 11am. Please do not drop off your children and leave before this time. Volunteers will be doing last minute float prep and we do not have enough man power to watch kids before then.

BEFORE SKATERS CAN JOIN YOU MUST SIGN A WAIVER!
We will have them starting at 10:30am ready for you to sign.

Pick up: Near NOAA. Please come immediately following the parade. Last year we had a long wait on a few parents. We are thankful to our volunteers and want to respect their time and allow them to enjoy the day with their family too.

What to wear: dress for the weather. It is going to be hot again!

If your kids have their own AHA team jersey. If not we will provide jerseys to all athletes who join us to wear and will collect them back after the parade. Comfortable shoes.
**Even if they intend to rollerblade in case they don’t make it the entire way**.

NO ONE IS ABLE TO RIDE ON THE FLOAT - due to decorations this year. Make sure your skaters intend and are prepared to walk the entire route.

What to pack: Please send water bottles with your athletes! It can be a long day and if warm they’ll need water. Please put sunscreen on them before dropping them off to us.

We expect all skaters will come with a good attitude, be kind to others, and respectful of volunteers.

Glow stick and candy donations are welcome 🙂

Again this year we will be showcasing our players by entering a float in the parade. The parade theme this year is Stars and Stripes and it's sure to be fun!

Join me in Alpena, MI, USA for a fun and exciting two-day hockey player skills development camp! This is where you start becoming the best player you can be and start playing the best hockey of your life!

The iTrain Hockey Michigan Older Camp (ages 11 to Adult) will help you take a huge leap forward in your overall game. At this camp, you will develop every single skill the game demands including your overall power skating, puck handling and shooting on day 1, and your skating edges, deking and offensive + defensive 1-on-1 battling skills on day 2.

This will undoubtedly be the best hockey development camp you’ve ever attended! Please feel free to invite any of your hockey friends or teammates to join you in signing up for the camp!

If you’d like to sign up for the advanced skills training camp taking place on the same two days, please also purchase a spot in the Michigan Advanced Camp available to ages 8 to adult taking place later each day from 2-5pm. Backward Skating, advanced shooting and offensive + defensive confined space 1-on-1 battling classes on day 1 and skating agility with puck control, passing and offensive + defensive team game tactics classes on day 2 will be conducted at that camp.

Happy Father’s Day to the dads who live the grind right alongside their kids—early mornings, frozen fingers, endless miles, and gear that smells like victory (and a little like a locker room). 🏒

You show up with grit, heart, and pride—taping sticks, hauling bags, and teaching what it means to fight hard and never quit.

This game builds character, but so do you. Thanks for being the kind of dads that leads by example—tough, loyal, and all in.

Northern Lights Arena staff will host a Learn to Skate Program with multiple date options. Now is a great time to get on the ice and be ready for the fall hockey season.

AHA is happy to announce the return of the Skinner hockey camp for 2025. We will offer two camps in 2025 at Northern Lights Arena:

*2-day Checking and Body Positioning camp on Sunday Sept 14th and Sunday Sept 21st.
*5-day Stickhandling Camp from Monday Sept 15th to Friday Sept 19th.

Sean Skinner has been sought after from all over the world as a professional ice hockey skills coach for over 20 years. He has worked for Hockey Canada, the Swedish Hockey Federation, USA Hockey, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and the top Russian Hockey Clubs. Sean’s work caught the eyes of the Montreal Canadiens, where he ran their preseason training camp in front of 14,000 + fans.

Details:
2 Day - Body Checking Camp:
Never before has there ever been such a comprehensive and detailed presentation on Checking with special sections on: Taking, Receiving and Avoiding Checks, Stick Checking Penalties, and Body Checking Penalties.
Ages: U10-U18
Dates: Sunday Sept 14 and Sunday Sept 21
Cost $150 for 6 hours of small group on ice instruction
We are recommending players sign up with a partner who is of similar height and weight. We will take individual signups but players may not know who they will be paired up with.
Limited Space: We will only take 20 pairs of players or 40 players max so sign up early!

5-DAY STICKHANDLING CAMP:
Green Group (12U, 14U, 16U & 18U) Monday 9/15 to Friday 9/19 4:00 - 5:20 PM.
White Group (U8, U10) Monday 9/15 to Friday 9/19 5:30 - 6:50 PM
We are only accepting 25 players per group so sign up early!
$285 per skater
7.5 hours of small group on-ice instruction
