🏒 ATTENTION AHA COACHES! 🏒

Now that the first week of hockey season is behind us, here's an important reminder for ALL coaches!

All coaches MUST register with AHA as soon as possible!

Coach registration is a USA Hockey requirement. Without completing your registration, we cannot add you to an official team roster. You must be properly registered and rostered to be on the ice or behind the bench.

Over the next month, AHA will be checking coaches on the ice and benches to ensure everyone is properly registered, rostered, and compliant with USA Hockey requirements.

Please take a few minutes to complete your registration ASAP so we can keep our season running smoothly!

We appreciate everything our volunteer coaches do for our players and our association. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe and compliant!

🟢 GREEN BANDS = YOUNG OFFICIALS LEARNING THE GAME 🏒

The Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA), in partnership with the District Referee-in-Chief, is introducing green arm bands for minor-aged officials working USA Hockey games across Michigan.

When you see a referee wearing green arm bands, remember: they are a young official learning one of the toughest jobs in hockey.

Just like our players, officials need time, experience, encouragement, and support to develop. Verbal abuse from coaches, players, and spectators is driving young officials away from the game—and discouraging others from ever picking up a whistle.

We need officials today, and we need to help develop the experienced officials our game will depend on tomorrow.

🟢 See the green bands.
🏒 Remember they are learning.
👏 Encourage them.
🤝 Respect them.

AHA asks all of our coaches, players, families, and spectators to help make this program successful and create an environment where our young officials want to keep coming back to the rink.

And remember: ZERO TOLERANCE applies. There is no place in youth hockey for abuse of officials.

The 16U TEAM IS HAPPENING! 🏒💚🤍

Registration officially opened TODAY, and these players hit the ice starting Monday!

If you’re planning to play 16U this season, please register as soon as possible so we can get everything rolling.

🏒 October: The 16U team will skate with the Blue Line Club
🏒 November: The team moves into its own dedicated ice time

We’re excited to make this happen and can’t wait to see our 16U players back on the ice!

🏒 AHA Scholarship Applications Are Now Open!

We believe every player should have the opportunity to play hockey, and we never want the cost of registration to keep a child off the ice.

If registration fees are a financial burden for your family, AHA has scholarship assistance available for the 2026–27 hockey season.

🏒 **WHERE HOCKEY TAKES YOU**

Every hockey journey starts somewhere. For Harrison Kaszubowski, it started right here with Alpena Hockey Association.

Harrison grew up in AHA, developing his game alongside friends he’d been skating with since Learn to Skate. He went on to earn First Team All-State honors with Alpena High School, was selected in the OHL Draft, and is currently continuing his hockey career with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.

But when Harrison looks back, it’s the people and memories that stand out.

“Growing up playing hockey in Alpena was amazing. It’s a tight community with some great coaches who were crucial in my development as a hockey player. I grew up playing with my best friends from learn to skate until high school, and some of my greatest memories were created playing hockey in Alpena.”

From those first steps on the ice to wherever the game takes you next, it all starts with an opportunity to play.
