Instructions backed by research filled with discussion, hands on doing with students and collaboration, independent working, and even critiques during the process and after we are done of each other’s work... makes a long process but one that really sets in and increases critical thinking.

Art teachers everywhere wrestle with how to balance teaching skills while leaving room for student choice. On the one hand, students need to be taught specific skills and techniques.
