If you’re wondering what’s the best possible way to spend a gorgeous spring day, here’s the key. Hang out with me on a red rock trail. Now normally I am a solo hiker but I’m making a rare exception this Friday 4/24. That’s when I’ll be leading a guided hike into the exquisite sandstone wonderland of Sedona. I’ll take you away from the crowds and show you some cool stuff. The hike is 3.5 miles of lovely, quiet scenery. I expect blackfoot daisies will be blooming, ocotillos, cacti, and plenty of others. Then afterward, we’ll grab lunch together. This opportunity is being offered by the Verde Valley Birding and Nature Festival. Cost is $140 but that includes transportation and meal. And all the money goes right to the non-profit Friends of the Verde River. I’m donating my pay back to them. All I’m getting out of it is a free meal and a chance to blab about my beloved Arizona.
