Boomfest Is Happening In Downtown Asheville!

Okay, okay... the official name is Boomtown Arts & Heritage FestAVL, but we shortened it for Twitter. šŸ˜‚

We stopped by Pack Square Park last night for the kickoff, and GOOD LORD, there were folks everywhere! Downtown was alive, people were packing the place out, music was rolling, and you could already feel what this weekend is going to become.

Watch our video walkthrough and check it out! šŸ‘€šŸŽ¶

And if last night was the warm-up, TODAY AND TOMORROW are about to take over Downtown Asheville like never before.

There's actually some cool history behind the name, too. Asheville experienced a major boom in the 1920s as the city rebuilt and grew following the Great Flood of 1916. That boom helped shape much of the architecture, arts and culture we still associate with Asheville today. Boomtown FestAVL was created to celebrate that history while connecting it to Asheville's artists, musicians, makers and the resilience of Western North Carolina today. This is the festival's third year, and organizers say attendance grew from about 20,000 people in 2024 to 32,000 in 2025.

And this year they're going BIG.

We're talking three stages, 30+ artists, live music, local makers, food vendors, heritage experiences, kids' activities and more—right in the heart of Downtown Asheville. And yes, it's FREE and all ages.

Love live music?
Love food trucks and local eats?
Love finding amazing local vendors?
Love good times with good people?
Need something that's actually family-friendly?

THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE THIS WEEKEND!

After everything Asheville and Western North Carolina have been through, there's something pretty dang special about seeing thousands of people filling Downtown Asheville again—eating, dancing, shopping local, listening to music and celebrating this crazy mountain town we call home.

So get downtown. Bring the kids. Bring your friends. Come hungry. Stay awhile.

Let's celebrate Asheville! Let's celebrate our history, our artists, our businesses and our comeback.

BOOMFEST IS HERE, Y'ALL! šŸ’„

Congratulations to Asheville, North Carolina — named the #2 Most Engaging Mountain Destination in the USA in Tripscout’s first annual Mountain Destination Awards! šŸ”ļøšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

Asheville’s Blue Ridge Mountains, lush forests, waterfalls and scenic trails make it a dream mountain escape, with outdoor adventures and breathtaking views along the Blue Ridge Parkway year-round.

What makes this recognition especially interesting is how the rankings were determined. These awards are powered entirely by Tripscout’s Social IQ data engine, which tracks engagement performance across posts from more than 1,100 mountain destinations worldwide.

There were no editorial picks, no panels and no public voting. Rankings were determined purely by social media performance during the 2026 calendar year to date.

As social media continues to be one of the leading sources of travel inspiration, online engagement plays an increasingly important role in how travelers discover and choose their next destination.

The destinations recognized have built strong, consistent relationships with their audiences online — and Asheville landed at #2 in the entire USA!

Pretty awesome recognition for our little mountain city here in Western North Carolina. ā›°ļø

Congratulations, Asheville!

BILTMORE VILLAGE PAVED PARADISE… AND PUT UP A PARKING LOT! šŸ˜‚

Well, the old Starbucks in Biltmore Village is not coming back. As most of y’all know, that spot was washed away during Hurricane Helene.

But look what we’ve got now… a brand-new parking lot!

And you know what? That may actually be a pretty good thing.

Hopefully a parking deck eventually follows, but for now, this should give some much-needed parking to those little shops sitting on that kinda ā€œislandā€ across from Hardee’s and the Bohemian.

Because crossing the street right here at the entrance to Biltmore? 😳

Good Lord.

We’ve seen several people almost get hit trying to cross. It can be downright scary, so having parking on the same side as those businesses could be a real help.

Heck, maybe Ruth’s Chris can even make use of some of it for valet parking. We actually just started eating there again. We stayed away for years because Oscar Wong was regularly here. And after dealing with him in business, we definitely did not want to see his face while celebrating lol. Life moves on, people move on, and sometimes you eventually find your way back to a decent steak.

But the bigger story here is Biltmore Village continuing to come back.

It’s been a long road. Every reopened business, every repaired building, every new project — and yep, even a parking lot — is another little sign of progress.

So cheers to Biltmore Village. šŸ»

And since Starbucks isn’t coming back, if you’re wandering around BV and need a cup of coffee, give Finch Grocery a try. Pretty tasty!

One more little step in the comeback. ā¤ļø

WOODFIN IS FINALLY GETTING CONNECTED TO THE REST OF THE WORLD!

If you’ve driven between Woodfin and Downtown Asheville lately, you already know — THERE IS DIRT MOVING EVERYWHERE.

The I-26 Connector project is looking less like a plan on paper and more like a massive construction zone every single day. Heavy equipment, earthmoving, new grades taking shape, lane shifts… there is a LOT happening on this stretch.

šŸŽ„ Check out the reel for a look at the work happening on this side of the highway. It’s pretty wild seeing just how much earth is being moved and how quickly the landscape is changing.

And yes, Woodfin… your moment has arrived. Soon you’ll be connected to civilization.

All jokes aside, be careful driving through the construction areas. Some lanes and traffic patterns have shifted, workers and equipment are active throughout the corridor, and conditions can change as the project progresses.

Slow down. Pay attention. Give the crews room to work.

It’s going to be fascinating watching this project transform the Asheville/Woodfin corridor over the next few years.

SO. MUCH. DIRT.

ASHEVILLE IS ON THE WORLD STAGE—and our local journalists are telling the story!

Spectrum News recently took a closer look at G20 coming to Asheville and what this historic international gathering means for Asheville and Western North Carolina.

And we LOVE seeing it.

There's a new wave of talented journalists doing some incredible work here in the mountains—getting outside, meeting people, asking questions and telling the stories of a region that has been through SO MUCH over the last two years.

Carrie from Spectrum News is absolutely one of them. šŸ™Œ

Western North Carolina needs journalists who are curious about our communities, excited about our comeback and willing to get out there and experience the story instead of simply reporting around it.

From Helene recovery to tourism, small businesses, rebuilding and now the WORLD coming to Asheville for G20, there are some enormous stories unfolding in these mountains.

And we're excited to see who's telling them.

Check out the Spectrum News story about G20, Asheville and Western North Carolina!

The world is watching our mountains again—and this time they're watching the comeback. šŸŒŽā¤ļø

THE WORLD CAME TO ASHEVILLE! And this one feels BIG.

Nearly two years after Hurricane Helene devastated Western North Carolina, some of the world's most influential financial leaders, international media and government officials are gathering right here in Asheville for G20.

Think about that.

About two years ago, the world was watching images of our communities underwater. Today, the world is watching our comeback. ā¤ļø

We're not finished rebuilding. Not even close. But we're still here, businesses are reopening, visitors are returning, and our mountains are being introduced to an entirely new international audience.

And the impact of G20 could extend FAR beyond this weekend—from tourism and global media exposure to future visits, business relationships and opportunities throughout WNC.

We even had the incredible opportunity to meet renowned Japanese journalist and television personality Akane Katafuchi! šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡µ

This is a special moment for Asheville.

šŸ‘‡ Read the full story and why G20 could matter long after everyone goes home.

BIG NEWS FOR BILTMORE VILLAGE — PAPERHOUSE PIZZA IS GETTING A PERMANENT HOME!

That beloved old train depot in Asheville’s Biltmore Village is about to start a whole new chapter as Paperhouse Pizza!

And if you’ve been following Asheville’s food truck scene, you already know why we’re excited.

Paperhouse didn’t start with a prime restaurant location or a big dining room. They built their following from scratch—one pizza at a time. From a food truck to becoming one of the names helping push Asheville and WNC’s pizza scene forward, they’ve created the momentum.

Now they’re getting a home.

Meanwhile, Wayside Grill is relocating near the GPI, so we’re excited to see that crew shining in their next chapter too.

Yes, Biltmore Village already has pizza options. But competition isn’t the story here.

Momentum is.

A growing local business taking over an iconic space. More reasons for people to return to Biltmore Village. More food. More drinks. More gathering. More LIFE in an area that could certainly use the additional business and leisure traffic.

Check out the reel—we’ll show you around the property, the building, and even give you a glimpse inside while the space is gutted and getting ready for what comes next.

And we're already picturing it…

Paperhouse Pizza.
Diatribe craft b**r.
That back patio.
And a train rolling by. šŸš‚

Come on now. THAT sounds like Biltmore Village!

From food truck to permanent home, this is exactly the kind of local growth we love watching.

Congratulations, Paperhouse. We can't wait to see what you do with the place—and we REALLY can't wait to eat!

See you soon.

RIP DOLLY PARTON — OH, HOW WE LOVE YOU, DOLLY. šŸ’”

Today, the flowers sitting beneath the Dolly mural in West Asheville say what so many of us are struggling to put into words.

Thank you, Dolly.

Thank you for the music.
Thank you for the laughter.
Thank you for the love.
Thank you for the country.
Thank you for the books.
Thank you for the generosity.
Thank you for showing the world that kindness and strength could live in the same heart.

Dolly Parton left us yesterday at 80, leaving behind a legacy that reaches far beyond country music.

She never forgot where she came from.

And she spent a lifetime giving back.

Her Imagination Library grew from an effort inspired by her father's inability to read and write into an international literacy program giving free books to children around the world.

That's Dolly.

Make it big—and use it to make somebody else's life better.

Oh, we were blessed.

Blessed with that voice.
Blessed with those songs.
Blessed with that humor.
Blessed with that enormous heart.

And somehow she always felt like ours here in the mountains.

Oh, how we love Dolly, tried and true...

What are we gonna do now... without you? šŸ’”

Maybe that's the answer:

Live like Dolly.
Love like Dolly.
Give like Dolly.
Be more like Dolly.

Leave people better than you found them.

Help a child.

Make somebody laugh.

Love your community.

Be unapologetically yourself.

And use whatever success you're fortunate enough to find to make this world a little kinder.

The flowers in West Asheville will eventually fade.

What Dolly taught us doesn't have to.

šŸ“š Honor Dolly's legacy by supporting the Imagination Library: https://donate.imaginationlibrary.com/

Rest easy, Dolly. We sure do love you. ā¤ļø
