Most people hear matriarchy and think it means patriarchy in reverse.

👑 Women ruling over men.
⚡ Power-over dynamics.
❌ Domination.

But that’s not matriarchy at all — that’s a colonized misunderstanding.

Matriarchy = community, reciprocity, balance, and life-giving power.

It’s not about gender or control. It’s about a way of living rooted in ancestral wisdom, the land, and the feminine principle that exists in all beings.

Before colonization, many African and Indigenous cultures lived in matriarchal balance:

✨ Women & womb-holders guided economics, spirituality, and governance.
✨ Communities thrived in partnership, not hierarchy.
✨ Life was organized around cycles, not domination.

Colonial systems erased this memory because it couldn’t be controlled. But the remembering is rising and you are part of it. 🌺

Where does the time go. This was August 16, 2014-Southwest Philly in my moms kitchen when I only had two children, and my stomach was still flat 😅.

We have all grown so much. My babies are almost grown, and we no longer live in the USA.

If you told me then that this would be my life now, I would not believe you.

The woman you see now, she was forged by fire and is as a Phoenix. I've died and have been reborn more time than I can count.

I'm so grateful for my life and this journey...

Keep going and have faith in yourself and in God. Where you come from doesn't limit where you will go.

This memory came up on Facebook today from August 16, 2016.

This is in southwest Philly at my moms house. Anandaa just turned one, and a few months prior, we returned back to Philadelphia after moving to Boulder, Colorado, where she was born.

I love growing things and took it up as a mission to transform my moms struggling front yard into a beautiful garden. And we did just that.

That summer and many summers after, we created a beautiful ecosystem and saw birds came that I had never seen before.

Every summer after that, I would tend to that garden. I loved picking fresh foods and herbs to cook and make salad.

I found old tires that i used to create a hedge and plant pots in the front. I also went hiking a lot and found some cut wood, which i used to frame the garden bed.

This showed the whole block what was possible. We had big sunflowers in front of the house. And the garden always sparked conversations and connections.

Grow where you are. No matter if its just one plant. It will bring healing...

Anandaa, my love child.
A fiery ta**ra bond with her father — she was conceived during a mushroom lo******ng ceremony.
At the time, I was immersed in the study and embodiment of Christ Consciousness and the Magdalene mysteries.
I’ve always been taught by Spirit in different ways — through dreams, signs, and books that seem to echo into my real-life experiences. Truly a holographic reality.

That relationship was intense, karmic, and came to teach me so much — about honoring myself, setting boundaries, and choosing me.
Anandaa was the sacred result of that union.

Early in my pregnancy, I had a dream that I was in a lush garden and heard *“Boulder, Colorado.”*
By 5 months pregnant, I knew I needed space from her dad.
My nomadic soul was ready for change.
So I packed up my Murano, gathered my two daughters, and drove from Philadelphia to Denver —
Nothing but a few dollars, faith, and prayer.

That time was deep… isolation, going inward, hiking, and connecting to nature.
Spirit led me to a family assistance program where I found a small apartment, and to an incredible midwife who held space for the birth.

I had already had two unassisted homebirths, so I trusted my body & birth — but I wanted support.
Labor started gently the night before — soft surges that helped ripen my cervix and bring her down.
When it was time, I only had to push twice.

She was born in the early evening, in a birth pool, with her two sisters in the water beside me — witnessing their baby sister arrive.
It was a waterbirth and a lotus birth— where the placenta stays attached until it naturally detaches, honoring the sacred transition.

When she was born, double rainbows arched over us. 🌈🌈
Her father came to visit us in Boulder shortly after her birth. It felt good to reconnect — to see him hold his baby, and hold me too.

Where does the time go?
This little soul is now 10.
She loves to draw, dance, be silly… and also loves math and money.

Audre Lorde’s words ring louder than ever: passivity is surrender, and despair is complicity. We are the architects of the future, and our work is to build it, shape it, and fight for it.

Black women like Audre Lorde have been at the forefront of liberation movements—challenging oppression, igniting change, and holding the vision for a just world.

Our voices have not only fought for Black liberation but for the freedom of all people. From abolition to civil rights, from feminism to q***r liberation, Black women have been the backbone of resistance.

Yet, too often, their contributions are erased, their labor unrecognized, and their wisdom overlooked. **It’s time we honor, uplift, and amplify their voices.** We stand on their shoulders, and the best way to honor their legacy is to continue the work—organizing, educating, and resisting.

Find your work. Do it. The future depends on it.
