Wrapped up an incredibly magical week in Maine with these 7 strong and determined women! We trekked 36 miles of the Appalachian Trail, all the way from Hwy 27 across the Bigelows, making our way to Rte. 201 via the Kennebec ferry. The challenges of Maine terrain didn’t take it easy on us (we climbed roughly 10,000 feet of elevation gain), but the weather forecast sure showed out. We were forecasted for three days in a row of rain, and it only showed for the one night that we were indoors at a traditional Maine sporting camp deep in the woods of Carrying Place (if you know you know). We were lucky enough to have a beautiful sunrise for our planned sunrise hike, an unforgettable sunset at my favorite campsite on the area, loons calling on the lake, s’mores over the campfire, trail magic after the toughest section, and hospitality from some of my favorite Mainers. We wrapped up the trip with rafting the Kennebec, of course, and a short day hike to Maine’s tallest waterfall, Moxie Falls. Huge thank you to these ladies who let me guide them to some of my favorite spots in western Maine, trained hard to be prepared for these mountains, and toughed it out with each other for the week.
