Today is a great day to make your way over to a vineyard to enjoy an outdoor wine tasting! Several vineyards and tasting rooms are offering wine and candy pairing experiences this weekend!⁣⁣

Candy Corn and Godello (a food friendly wine from Valdeorras, Spain)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Why does it work? ⁣⁣
Although it seems to be an uncanny pairing, but the fresh and crisp taste of the Godello balances out the cloying sweetness of the candy corn. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
For those who despise candy corn, this pairing actually makes the candy corn tolerable!⁣ Remember to take a sip first, then taste the candy, and then take another sip.

🥂It's storytime! ⁣
Do you mind if we take a trip down memory lane? We didn't think so 😉⁣

The year is 2015 and our founder, Racquel, is in Waiheke Island, New Zealand. She was on a work trip to Auckland, NZ, and decided to take a wine and biking tour one day. ⁣
⁣
Well, if it's one thing that we all know, it's that when you take that kind of trip, drinking becomes your best bud. ⁣
⁣
And remember, Racquel is in New Zealand which is naturally of a higher the altitude — and as the story goes, the higher the altitude, the better the wine. ⁣
⁣
We feel like this is the part of the caption where you're expecting us to tell you how Racquel ended up chocolate wasted and accidentally purchased 100 bottles of wine. ⁣
⁣
Not so much, haha! ⁣
⁣
From climbing the hills with the bike to get to each winery, her legs were beyond sore, the biking killed her buzz, and she obviously didn't bring any cases of wine back on the bike. ⁣
⁣
Though, as you can see, the views were spectacular, the wine stewards were passionate + friendly, and made her feel welcomed at every turn! ⁣
⁣
To top it off — here's a little known fact: Waiheke makes a great Shiraz, and Shiraz is known for growing in areas with gorgeous views, like this. ⁣

From pruning and training the vines to making key farming decisions to cultivate quality grapes and in turn, quality wine, we salute you and everything that you do!

For wine countries in the U.S. and most of the northern hemisphere, August is the official start of Harvest! If you live near a vineyard, you can volunteer to participate in harvesting the grapes.

Some wineries even have fun harvest activities such as grape stomping and drinking unreleased wines!

It's a great way to spend some time outdoors. Check out some of the harvest activities near you!

Vintners make A LOT of decisions after the grapes are brought in from the vineyard.⁣
⁣
Do they want to add additional sugar (raise the brix) of the unfermented grape must to increase the alcohol content? This is called chapitalization⁣
⁣
Do they want to ferment the wine in steel tanks? Oak barrels? If oaked, American oak? French oak? New oak barrels or user oak barrels?⁣
⁣
How long do they want to age it for?⁣
⁣
And soo many other decisions that will impact the resulting wine. ⁣
⁣
These are all great questions to ask the winemaker or the wine stewards on your vineyard tours.⁣
It's also beneficial to learn these things about your favorite wines so you can find other wines that were made in a similar style.⁣
⁣
We will have the opportunity to learn all of these things and more as we sip our way through Napa and Sonoma next year!⁣

🍷We're heading to the Disneyland of Wine Lovers!

Yes, we're going to Napa & Sonoma! With guided tours to famous wineries, Michelin star restaurants, and relaxing accommodations at a boutique hotel in downtown Napa, this trip is worth every penny. And after going through 2020, you deserve it!

🥂There are a lot of new followers here, so we wanted to say Welcome!⁣⁣

And of course, we'd love for you to meet Racquel Valbrun, the brains behind the wine travel agency Passport2Pinot. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Racquel is a wine educator, 1/3 of the , and is the event curator responsible for bringing events like last summer's wine yacht party, Wine Fête, to the Atlanta area.⁣
⁣⁣
She also is a travel agent and found a way to combine her love for travel and wine through !
Her favorite wine regions are currently Tuscany because of the hospitality, delicious cuisine, and Chianti, followed by Stellonbosch for the pinotage and chenin blanc.⁣⁣
