Last week, Explore Gainesville was honored to host the Georgia State Senate Study Committee on Making Georgia the No. 1 State for Tourism at The Boathouse at Lake Lanier Olympic Park! 🌊✨

Committee Chairman Drew Echols was joined by State Senators Russ Goodman, Sonya Halpern, Frank Ginn, and Emanuel Jones to kick off this important series of discussions right here in the City of Gainesville, Georgia. The first meeting saw an outstanding turnout with more than 100 people in attendance, including 95 members of the Georgia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus, media, and staff from both the House Speaker’s office and the Lieutenant Governor’s office. House and Senate leadership were impressed by the strong engagement and participation throughout the day.

Following the meeting, Senator Echols joined Lee Hughes and City of Gainesville Tourism Director Robyn Lynch for a Tourism Talks Lunch & Learn, where he encouraged GACVB members to stay engaged throughout the committee’s work.
We are proud that Gainesville was chosen as the launch point for this initiative and are excited to see how it helps shape the future of tourism in Georgia!

This morning, Explore Gainesville is proud to welcome the first meeting of the Georgia State Senate Study Committee Meeting on Making Georgia the No. 1 State for Tourism, lead by State Senator Drew Echols, to The Boathouse at Lake Lanier Olympic Park! 🏛🏆

The discussion is taking place in a facility fully funded by Gainesville, Georgia hotel/motel tax dollars, showing how tourism directly invests back into our community.

Robyn Lynch, Tourism Director for the City of Gainesville, Georgia, shared her vision for the future of tourism in our state:
"Georgia's tourism story is as diverse as it is inspiring - from the coast to the mountains, from vibrant cities to charming small towns. Here at Lake Lanier Olympic Park, where the legacy of the 1996 Olympics lives on, we see firsthand how tourism drives community pride and economic growth. With a unified, year-round marketing campaign, seasonal storytelling and that signature southern hospitality, we can showcase what makes Georgia unique, attract more visitors, and make an even bigger impact statewide."

Following the Senate Committee meeting, the Georgia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus will host a Lunch and Learn, welcoming more than 100 tourism professionals and industry stakeholders from across the state! 🍑✨

Stay tuned as we will be sharing photos and a full recap of today's events later this evening!

From baseball to rowing and everything in between, sports tourism is making a big impact in the City of Gainesville,-Hall County. Yesterday, the Greater Gainesville Sports Alliance welcomed Vision 2030 and Vision 2030 Public Art for a special tour and presentation showcasing that impact! 🏆
The day kicked off at Lake Lanier Olympic Park where James Watson shared its lasting legacy. Blake Davis talked about the exciting future of the Gainesville Gol'Diggers at Riverside Preparatory Academy, and Valerie Smith gave a tour of The Beast Sports Center highlighting powerlifting competitions held there.

From there, everyone hopped on the Explore Gainesville COOL Bus to the Atlanta Falcons Training Facility to watch a practice and hear about the growth of flag football in Hall County. The tour wrapped up at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta with lunch in the Michelin Tower and even a lap around the track in the COOL Bus.
Sports tourism is thriving in our community and we are proud to share how it continues to bring people together and strengthen Gainesville-Hall County! 🙌
