Christmas in Strasbourg, France – The Capital of Christmas

Every winter, Strasbourg transforms into a magical wonderland — earning its title as “La Capitale de Noël” (The Capital of Christmas). The city’s Christkindelsmärik, one of Europe’s oldest Christmas markets (dating back to 1570), glows under millions of twinkling lights. Stalls line the charming half-timbered streets around the Cathedral Square and Place Kléber, where a gigantic Christmas tree — often over 30 meters tall — stands proudly decorated.

You can sip hot vin chaud (mulled wine), taste Alsatian specialties like bredele cookies, and browse handcrafted ornaments and wooden toys. The air is filled with music, cinnamon, and the pure joy of the holidays — Strasbourg truly captures the spirit of a traditional European Christmas.
